Owners of primary water rights in the Parowan fields will face a lawsuit rather than assume responsibility for conducting winter water through the city. City officials reject winter conveyance through town, leaving ditches open under marshal supervision while field owners vote to share potential court costs.
The combined Parowan and Cedar City choral societies rehearse and prepare to perform The Messiah in Parowan on New Year's Eve. Director Manning praises the joint effort and urges local support and hospitality for Cedar City singers.
The Literary club held its Christmas Gift box party at Mrs Merrill Mitchells home. Members placed gifts in boxes and drew for a present. Plans for the annual New Year party on January 1 were discussed. Mr Nelson Fenton returned from Idaho to spend the holidays with family.

Peter Erastus Skougard 74 a longtime community member died yesterday after months of stomach cancer. Born in Copenhagen in 1859 he came to Utah as a child and worked as a carpenter. Funeral is Sunday in the West Ward chapel with widow Elizabeth Carson Skougard among 38 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren surviving along with 18 children and in law relations.
Parowan Gun and Rod Club plans its annual election on the 29th. Current officers up for reappointment include Roy Benson as president John W. Gurr vice president Clifton Halterman secretary treasurer and directors James E K Gurr John B Dalton Ernest Orton and Merrill Thornton. The club lists 100 plus members this year with four honorary members and notes possible additional names.
Utah State Fish and Game Department chief Newell LA Cook urged winter feeding to prevent starvation and exposure of game birds and wildlife. He offered cooperation and asked conservation groups to organize feeding locally and report needy areas for prompt aid.
A junior ladies literary club was organized with ten charter members. Jean Matheson was named president, Torean Mickelson vice president, and Lillian Adams secretary treasurer. A constitution and by-laws committee headed by Georgia Jensen includes Heatrica Adams and Hildreth Benson. Weekly Saturday meetings will cover a course on the History of Civilization.
Mr Marlo Topham and Miss Zona Pendleton, prominent locals, traveled to Salt Lake City to wed today in the L D S temple. Their return date isn’t set, with families expecting possible several days away. Marlo is son of Mrs Amelia J Topham, a Parowan local, and a respected young man. Zona is daughter of Mr and Mrs Clarence Pendleton and longtime district schoolteacher.
Tarawan City seeks 70 045 90 in grants and loans from the Public Works Administration to fund water system upgrades and a power plant. The plan itemizes costs for water mains wells storage reservoirs and legal fees with a loan backed by city revenues. Mayor Decker urged immediate filing after delays and expects federal approval with funds available to start early spring.
Most of the erstwhile students have gone home to spend the holidays. They do not need to return until January.
Tiannah Lou Mickelson, age nearly two, died of spinal meningitis after a weeklong illness. Funeral services were held at the family residence. Survived by parents Albert and [unnamed], three sisters Albert a Adrienne and Glenna, three brothers Ernest Norman and Leonard, and grandfather Oscar M. Mickelson, all of Parowan. The community extended sympathy to the bereaved family.
The Times plans to publish the county delinquent tax list next issue, noting the task will be large and may delay release several days. Readers will be informed if the tax list cannot be mailed at the usual time.
