Parowan Lane Students Denied Transport by Board Policy

Iron County School Board denied transportation for fifteen or sixteen Parowan Lane students living within two and a half miles of the school citing state law and county policy. Officials noted distances measured show all affected students live under 2.3 miles and argued funding limits prevent extending service countywide. The board also denied Cedar City junior high auditorium use for basketball and discussed future finances and possible pay periods.

Demonstrations on turkeys planned by Scholzen in county

County agent L Tueller reports a Monday turkey market demonstration to be led by H C Scholzen at Day Farms and again at the High School. Scholzen has joined the pool, paid an advance, and will ship turkeys to California around Tuesday while marketing many birds across the county. Dixie Products Formed To Sell Utah Chicken Output

A new company Dixie Products, Inc. formed in St. George to market meat chickens and other Dixie products. Led by Theodore Malin, the firm plans to raise 25,160 chicks at 13 weeks and scale to 50,000 monthly, with future turkeys and regional potato and celery ventures. Chicks travel from California in heated trucks, then are raised by farmers under supervision before sale through coast markets. The Woolen Mills building in Washington will house core operations, with a 200 foot unit for keeping poultry.

School Inaugurates Good Teeth Campaign Districtwide

The Board of Education and the superintendent launch a district wide good teeth campaign after health supervision budget cuts. Local dentists begin examining students in Cedar City this week and the program will extend to other schools as fast as possible. Competition between schools and grades will be used to stimulate participation.

The Parowan East Ward invites all members to a reunion next Thursday December 27. A kiddies party in the recreation hall starts in the afternoon while a social for all others from Mutual age up to 7 20 p m features games dancing and refreshments.

Court Suspends Wilson Sentence In Forgery Case

Riste Wilson a 16 year old from Lovell Wyoming pleaded guilty to forgery and was sentenced by Judge Cox to one to two and a half years in the penitentiary but execution is suspended until July 1 1932 provided he pays 150 total at 16 monthly and submits written reports each term plus deputy sheriff reports. He remains jailed until funds arrive and restitution is arranged.

Figures from Supervisor Gurr show that 125 pound average deer caught in the Dixia Forest during the hunting season yielded meat worth about 46 975 dollars. The season drew hunters from and 27 percent came from California, suggesting significant local economic impact.

Halterman Family Returns Home From Panguitch Visit

Mr. A. Halterman drove to Panguitch on Saturday to bring his wife and small daughter back. They had been visiting Mrs. Haltermans sister, Mrs. W. W. Houston since Thanksgiving.
