Farowan Student to Appear in Oriental Drama
Kenneth Joseph Farowan, a sophomore in the College of Arts at Brigham Young University, is scheduled to appear in the Department of Speech and its Oriental drama Lady Precious Stream. The ancient Chinese play, translated into English in traditional style, will be staged without scenery or props. The production, directed by Dr. Burl Partoo, is the third major show of the year and will be performed at Jim Cairage Hall on December 15 and 37.

High School Youth Dies of Heart Trouble
Faskill Skousard aged 15, son of Mr and Mrs Thomas Skougard, of Parowon High School, died Sunday at Iron County hospital after an appendicitis operation. Funeral services were held Wednesday at West Ward chapel, with extensive family and classmate attendance, featuring a large musical program and readings. He left a sister and two brothers, with services conducted by local clergy. His grave was at the cemetery in the town.

At the regular December meeting Mayor A. O. Hatch appointed Arthur Joseph to the city council vacancy created by John H. Pendleton’s resignation. The unanimous vote supported the appointment, with Pendleton having joined the council earlier in the year. The term runs until January 1, 1940. The council also approved financing for the Beitk building renovation and discussed moving city offices to the top floor to relieve library conditions, plus further dance regulation enforcement and decorations permits.
