Parowan City Council Hears Audit and Delinquent Accounts
The Parowan City Council held a December meeting to review city finances including extending an audit with Beesley and Young from 1934 1936 to year end at a total cost of 200. Changes to the accounting system were proposed to ease recorder treasurer workload and improve safety of money handling. Officials discussed licensing coal dealers, delinquent water and night accounts and authorized seizure of wood and iron pipe. County Attorney Posters letter noted no tax assessment against city held properties and Danson project work on power distribution was completed with material overages to be reconciled. Several town crews were assigned new sections and routine business conducted before adjournment.

Parowan Recreation Council Plans Indoor and Outdoor Programs
At a Sunday meeting the Parowan Adult Recreation Council advanced plans for a winter program. They aim to create an outdoor ice skating rink on the church square, weather permitting, by flooding and freezing. if not feasible, the old hollow between the Tithing Office land may serve. Additional ideas include closing nearby streets for kids skating lanes, converting the old reef society hall into an adult woodwork and crafts building, and scheduling weekly recreation time for men Monday, women Thursday, with Saturday evenings for mechanic arts and woodwork at the school.

400 Acres Of Peas To Be Grown Here Next Year
Up to 400 acres of green peas will be grown in Parowan valley next year in the pump well district. Two companies, one leasing land and water, will operate, with San Jose based Public Produce Distributing Company driving the new expansion. Local growers will supply the peas under contract, with Huelet farm leased and water provided for four months. Ice storage and transport plans to Cedar City are underway, and existing San Diego Fruit and Vegetable Co contracts return with increased acreage and higher payments. New growers join, and local staffing will rise as production expands.
