High School Addition Underway in Iron County
Iron County Board of Education opened bids for the Perowan High School addition with Witt Construction of Provo the low general contractor at 164 680. Atkin Plumbing and Heating of Cedar City won mechanical work for 40 760 and L C Guymon Provo the electrical at 13 871 though board accepted a 19 000 alternate. New gym extends from 60 by 90 to 90 by 106 feet with folding bleachers seating 1200, glass boards, and a dividing panel for double use.

Seventy Quorum Enjoy Five Mile Fete in Parowan Stake
Members of the Seventy Quorum of Parowan Stake and their partners held a corn roast at the Five Mile recreation camp on Saturday evening. Local couples depart for Indiana trip with LDS mission reunion
Mr and Mrs Ancel J Adams and Mr and Mrs Bryce Adams leave Tuesday for a two week trip to Columbus Indiana. They will meet Miss Vilo Adams daughter of Ancel and Gertrude who will be released Sept lat from the Great Lakes Mission for the LDS Church after an 18 month missionary service. Couples travel by car via Southern route east and returning by Northern route. Side trips to early church history sites are planned and Vilo will accompany them home.

Local performers in Parowan raised funds for an organ at the First Ward Chapel with a concert last Friday evening. Despite a smaller crowd, performers led by Steve Adams, Kenneth Topham and Marie Adam delivered trumpet duets, vocal solos, piano pieces, dramatic readings, and a final Roll Jordan Roll, contributing 86.69 dollars to the organ fund and plans for a Cedar City program on a cooperative basis.

The General committee announces a two day program featuring horse shows and races, western bands the Utah Buckaroos and a chariot event at the Iron County Pair in Parowan. Five matched horse races with substantial purses start at 2:10 each day, plus wild bron e riding and calf roping exhibitions. Registration for Parowan High School classes runs Sept 3 and 4, with 2000 in premiums across 4-H and homemaking divisions and judging Thursday.
