Department Judges Named for County Fair
The Extension division of Dub fnate Agricultural College will judge home making, 4-H, and agricultural divisions at the Ira County Fair starting Sept 4. Judges include Carol Watkine, Letty Spillabury, Violet Hannah Wolfe, Laette Gubler of Washington County, and Clifford LePevre, Wal ten Isom, and Grant Esplin from other districts. Livestock judging Thursday and home making judging Thursday afternoon precede a 4 p.m. style dress review. Public events include a horse show, rodeo, and club demonstrations Friday and Saturday. more details come next week.

A July 28 visit of the stork reveals Brice and Adele Levy Decker of Salt Lake City have welcomed their first born, a girl, in Parowan. Paternal grandparents are Parowan postmaster Ivan Decker and the late Mrs Decker. Heber M. Levy of Cedar City is also honored as a grandparent. The child has two great grandmothers in Cedar City and New Castle.

New Bids Sought on Ken County Rest Home Project

State tax levy drops to 6.4 mills after eliminating equalization fund. Total levy on Iron County outside cities falls to 26.4 mills from 33 last year. Cedar City 62.7, Parowan 47.4, Paragonah 37.4, Kanarra 34.4. City units also reduce, with Kanarra at 2.69 less per $1,000.

Iron County Democratic convention in Parowan eliminated Warren H. Bulloch from the four year county commissioner race. Cedar City rivals Miles Walker and Kamen Gardner won on a second ballot after a first three way tie. Other certified candidates include Marlo S. Kin Of Local Woman Killed In Fall From Roof
Abel Rich, 69, prominent Box Elder County churchman and former Brigham City mayor and state senator, died after falling from a roof while shingling a son's home in Ogden. He left a large family including five sons and one daughter. Funeral services were held in Box Elder Stake Tabernacle with Bishop Raymond Payne presiding.
