The Fair revu opens Thursday sponsored by Poecowan Wards associations. Fourty Purrawans young ladies present a varied program including group songs and dances. President W Clair Rowley announced a Sunday evening Stake Conference under the Stake MLA direction at 8 p.m. in Summit Ward. Visiting authorities Elders Oscar A Kirkham and Paul C Childs will represent general authorities across Saturday meetings and Sunday sessions. Regional Welfare Conference also starts in Parowan at 9 a.m. Saturday.

Farmer's Horse Killed By Lightning In Pasture
A work horse from Bud Munford's team on the Oscar Lyman farm was killed by a lightning strike while grazing during a Tuesday deluge. A nearby teammate and the owner, sheltering under a shed about fifty feet away, were unharmed.

Parowan Schools Set Fall Start And Fees
Parowan announces a 1950-51 term starting Tuesday September 5 with an institute for teachers September 1 through 3. UEA convention October 12 15 and 4. Thanksgiving recess November 23 24. Christmas vacation from December 2 at noon to January 4. School ends May 23 for a 176 day year. Senior high student body fee five dollars with three fifty book rental. a dollar of the rental is refundable. Seventh and eighth grade student body fee three dollars. Building renovations are to be complete by September 5. Mr May Dalley will be absent due to military service until the national emergency ends.

County Fair entries due for handicrafts exhibit at gym
To fair patrons of the Handicrafts Department the county fair requires entries for articles to be hid in the High School gym from 1 to 6 p.m. on Wednesday Aug 30. Thursday morning is reserved for committee members and judges only. Arts Crafts and Hobbies and Ladies Exhibits will be housed at the gym.
275 Descendants Attend Benson Reunion in Parowan
About 275 people from across the United States gathered for a three day Richard and Phoebe Forrester Benkxon family reunion in Parowan. After Friday registration a public dance in the West Ward Recreation hall featured the Enoch orchestra led by George Fowler and square dancing led by Ed and Lena Johnson of Wyoming. Saturday morning family members met at the continuing activities.

The gown was white lace over satin with a matching cap and bouquet of orchid anemones. Estella Orton sister of the bride served as matron of honor in blue dotted Swiss with similar bouquet. Arnold W Coon of Salt Lake City was best man. A dinner followed hosted by the bride’s mother with assistance from Jean Hendrickson and LaVonna Guymon. The couple are Waiver graduates continuing in Utah public life.

Firemen's Ball Nets Tidy Sum
