Industrial News Review notes profits improving across Chrysler U S Steel and General Motors with quarterly gains and 1932 first half earnings lower than 1933. Small businesses show solid gains while retail trade remains weak. Industrial indicators like carloadings and power use rise, and farm legislation faces overhaul as relief demand remains manageable.
Twenty six 4-H clubs with their leaders will join a county outing on Thursday August 24 at Five Ville in Parowaneaion. The program includes games, community singing, club prepared meals, and a campfire finale. Parents and 4-H leader K D P Murray are invited to attend.
Jana F Corry seeks absolute divorce from Eliis Corry citing non support and no children or property to divide. The Federal Land Bank of Berkeley files to foreclose a mortgage on the late S R Burton property naming Amertia W Burton J Clayton Mitchell Dixie Power Co the State Bank Commissioner and others as defendants. The clerk reports a marriage license for Alma T Wakeling and Annie Eyes yt Kaned.
The Board of County commissioners met in August with all members present along with the Sheriff, Attorney, Assessor, Clerk and Treasurer. They discussed emergency relief funds amid low wage scales and dwindling aid, approved deputy sheriff Dalton, Justice of the Peace Stones for Paragonmah, bridge work funds, salvage at an abandoned bridge, and relief committee changes plus back taxes payment for Ellen Mulliner. The clerk was instructed to contact Governor Blood regarding the Groves family.
The Bank of Iro County, closed in December 1931, has paid off about 67000 owed to the Federal Reserve Bank with collections and liquidation costs. The remaining claim is about 6000 to the Iran County School District. After settling that debt, assets may be divided among detailers or used for depositor dividends via Home Owners Loan and other agencies.
County voters may vote this fall on whether the board of county commissioners or the hospital board should have power to levy a tax for hospital purposes. Rising deficits from indigent care and maintenance have strained existing funds, prompting consideration of a special levy or alternative. The commissioners indicated a decision to submit the question is likely.
The August term of the district court concluded with Judge Cor ruling for the defendants in a property dispute over Riley G. Williams estate. Thursa A. Williams, administrator and second wife, sued May Williams Rowe over deeds and stock certificates from a safety box.
The county jail houses inmates including LaVar Shurtz serving 30 days for drunken driving and Jack Darton Lowell Edwards and Silas Owens for intent and disturbing the peace with 30 and 45 days respectively. They were sent by the precinct Justice in Cedar City. Mr and Mrs L J Adams returned from Salt Lake City where he studied highway patrol duties.
Jacob H. K. Jeffs, 45, of Los Angeles, was found dead late Sunday night under a tree at the old Skinner place on Buckhorn. Heart trouble suspected. death occurred mid afternoon. He drove a Ford coupe with shoes off, pipe on his shoes, no sign of struggle. Baldwin lad from Paragonah saw him earlier and noted he looked ill. Dr. Clark pronounced death. no foul play suspected. Body shipped to Los Angeles. family notified.
The Board of County Commissioners created three new voting districts in Parowan, dividing Cedar streets and Main and Center streets to form districts 1 through 4. Registry agents were named for most districts, with district lines set to ease judge workload. Election plans include November votes on city elections and Utah constitutional referenda.
Congressman Alee Murdock and Cedar City Mayor Walter K Granger spoke at a large Farm and Labor League meeting Tuesday. Murdock criticized the current monetary system and outlined administration programs while Granger discussed the recent legislative session and sales tax aimed at federal support for Utah.

He described pipe replacements reservoir sites and preparation of specs for a potential $ loan while noting a bond election is usually unnecessary unless protest hits 15 percent.
