Hit and Run Driver Wrecks Local Ford Near Summit
Five youths narrowly escaped serious harm when a large hit and run vehicle struck Stay Hyatt’s Ford sedan on a Summit grade. Elmer Hyatt drove, with Lollia Ort and three Summit girls aboard. The impact flipped the car into a barrow pit. occupants were shaken but not seriously hurt. The fleeing driver’s identity was not learned.

Parowan Valley well showcases irrigation potential
Halterman brothers Sam and Roo drill a 300 ft well in Parowan Valley yielding 700 to 900 gallons per minute on a natural flow. With pump and future electric motor, output may reach about 1000 gallons. The 12 to 8 inch casing well irrigates about 200 acres at an estimated $60 per acre when combined with land and water rights. The brothers plan fencing, a ten acre farm area, wind protection trees, and eventual dairy and livestock development, funded by credit and a twenty year amortization plan.

Lightning Strikes Kanarra Hay Stacks
Two stacks of alfalfa hay totaling about 220 tons owned by Arnold Graf of Kanarra were struck by lightning on Sunday. Fire began at the top and spread to the bottom, destroying one stack and badly damaging the other. Graf narrowly escaped heat exhaustion while attempting to fight the flames.
