Council Cuts One Mill From City Tax Levy
At a regular meeting of the Parowan City Council with L J Adams acting as mayor pro tem the tax levy for the coming year was set at 22 mills, one mill below prior years. The cut frees one mill from the guaranty fund used for bonds now retired, while the rest of the levy remains as before. The city now faces lower revenue due to a drop in assessed valuation from about 310,000 to 287,572. The council also approved a 25 cash appropriation for the Parowan County Fair, ordered a permanent bridge at Sam Orton corner, began temporary repair of the J D Baylis corner bridge, and approved a new meter reading and collection plan. A foreman was recommended for the removal of undesirable trees, with Clifford Myans as the sole applicant.
