Iron County Teachers Largely Under Contract For Next Year
County Superintendent Barlow reports most Iron County teachers are employed and under contract for next year. Many current staff will return, with vacancies filled. Parowan Music and Domestic Science posts remain unfilled as of now, with Miss Crookston not returning and Mr Adams leaving to pursue other interests. Bohemian Girl Delights Busy Community Audience
The Bohemian Girl, four acts, English opera, presented by the B A Music Department under W H Maagn ing drew a large audience from the area. Despite a strenuous Southern Utah tour and twelve days of performances, the cast showed no fatigue. Chorus work solos and acting earned high praise, with thanks extended to the B A C Music Department. Mr and Mrs Wm PF Garten visited Paragonah on business.

BYU Band to Play Here for National Music Week
Brigham Young University band from Provo will tour Southern Utah towns next week and perform at the School House on Thursday evening May 6. The group includes thirty musicians plus a soloist and a glee club and promises a top musical show of the season.

Schools Still Tied for Debating Honors
Professor Swenson of the B U confirms the majority ruling on debates between Parowan High and Delta High. Affirma tive sides won two to one at Delta Parowan and St George, round robin held at Beaver, Dixie withdrew, Beaver decisive. Swenson to decide which school represents the division in semi finals with Monroe Manti and another school for the State Meet.

Music Teacher Declines to Head Parewan High School
Mr. L. G. Adams, music department head for the past two years, will retire to devote himself to farming and livestock interests. He owns land near Culver Ranch with a large pumphouse well project soon to be drilled. Adams plans lambing work with his sheep for about five weeks and later stays on Mammoth private lands. The community and school thank him for his service and wish success in his undertakings.

Officers Take Still From Emil Witte Farm
Emil Witte, a valley farmer, was found with a still and mash during a seizure by Sheriff Leigh and other officers from Utah County. They uncovered distilling gear hidden in a barrel, malt beer, boxes of prunes, corn and barley scattered on his premises. Witte was arrested and awaiting trial, with no hearing set yet.

Defies Cop and Sleeps In The "Can" Cedar City Youth
Pert Smith a Cedar City boy refused to leave town after City Marshall Bennett offered him a ride out of town. He drank and defied arrest sleeping in a city hostel. After resisting and telling the marshal to show a gun the officer took him into custody. The juvenile was released this morning but will be reported to the juvenile judge.
