Fire Dept. Receives Three Calls In One Week
Local fire department answered three calls last week to fight grass and trash fires. A Saturday blaze at Charles Burt farm started from burning trash along a ditch bank and singed brush. Sunday fire at Jess Guyman farm damaged a fence. Thursday's call at Harold Mitchell farm was halted as crews arrived. A Marsden incident involved burning weeds that spread to a fence and slats but was contained before reaching sheds.

Annual Deer and Range Survey Completed

Easter Drive Ends With Rock Hazard Near Zion Park
What began as an Easter Sunday family trip for the Ken Jensen group nearly became disaster as rocks dislodged by children from above the tunnel at Zion Park struck their car. A rock roughly a ton landed atop the windshield and damaged the vehicle, while flying glass cut a child on the head though not seriously. Another rock struck the rear, causing about £250 damage to the car.

The Region Six Music Festival plans in Parowin on Saturday May Tth include eminent judges led by LeNoir Asay. Orman Weight from Salt Lake City and Elvis B. Terry of Orem will judge chorus performances, with Clair Johnson and N W Christiansen also named for bands and orchestras. About 1200 students from 15 schools are expected. Mayor Mitchell leads clean up efforts and lodging and programs are organized by chambers and civic groups. Church groups will help provide food for the crowd. Massed band parade plans are being finalized by Asay and committee.
