Jesse F. Lowder Funeral Held Tuesday Afternoon
Funeral services for Jesse F. Lowder were held Tuesday afternoon in the East ward chapel with Bishop Jess Guymon presiding. The service featured choir numbers, remarks by W. Clair Rowley Hugh L. Adams and Bishop Guyman, and a graveside benediction. Lowder, born June 4, 1872, married Alice Bentley in 1904 and fathered fourteen children, with eleven living and present for the ceremony.

Council Authorizes Cemetery Improvements in City
The City Council last Tuesday authorized cemetery improvements including moving back the fence to create space for a road along the West side and easier turns on surrounding roads. East and West roads will be graded and capped where needed while a welfare garden proposal was not favored due to ongoing improvements and a caretaker. The council revived plans for a city nursery in the jelly park with caretaker Clayton Rasmusten to obtain trees and replace dead ones. They noted CCC buildings east of town remain under control of the Grazing Service and will not be moved. The council voted to continue funding the Schter Merewell parties at 7.0 for the chapel and hall and 6.00 for music, and approved $50 for a city librarian aide. It rejected pasturing city streets this spring and authorized various street and sidewalk improvements.

Munson 18 Wounded in Italian Campaign
Mrs. Georgia M. Munson received word that her husband Sergeant Ray M. Munson was wounded in Italy on February 18 during the Anzio Beachhead fighting. A telegram and a letter to his wife said he was hit by a shell fragment and was reported to be doing well. He wrote that shells were flying from both sides and that he could write the letter himself. Mrs. Munson planned to travel to Los Angeles to visit relatives.
