Auto Crash Injures Local Family En Route to Conference
William C Mitchell and family were injured Thursday when their car, traveling toward the Annual Conference, collided head on with a truck on Buck Flat Road near 21 PM. Harold Mitchell, Joan Pumperger, and others suffered injuries including broken ribs and cuts. The truck driver, Mark Yor Panton, was cited for careless driving. Funeral services for Mrs. Elizabeth Benson Johnson 77 who died Saturday at her Parowan home were held Tuesday in Parowan East Ward Chapel with Elmer O Gurr in charge. High School Senior Wins Region 7 Oratorical Contest
Miss Malo McNicol of Parowan High School won the American Legion Region 7 oratorical contest in St George with a 12 minute speech on American Citizens Rights and Responsibilities Under the Constitution. She advances to Murray to face regional winners in Salt Lake finals, then the state winner goes to Virginia for the national contest. The prize is a four year college scholarship with all expenses paid.

The West Ward genealogical group started the season with a well attended gathering at the Dalton home. Preston Peterson’s Health lecture in the Adult Class drew enthusiastic response from Sunday School members. Ward Relief Societies plan regular welfare sew ing and quilting sessions next Tuesday. Priesthood meeting and Sunday School proceed as usual, no Sacrament Meeting in Parowan Wards. The L D S Conference in Salt Lake City will be broadcast for home radio listening.

Infant Succumbs At St George
Charlotte Page infant daughter of Mr and Mrs Elwood Page of St George died March 29 after an emergency operation at the local hospital. Gravemole services were held Sunday at 4 PM conducted by Bishop Andrus of the West Ward. Attending were Mr and Mrs John Page and Mr Al Dobrusky and family from Parowan. Mrs Dobrusky cared for her daughter in St George.
