Evanston Wyoming Sept 24 The first murder in Evanston in years occurred Sunday afternoon when Manuel Lopez 28 a Mexican allegedly shot Gimeond Reyes also Mexican at the Union railroad crossing. Deputy Sheriff B C Hughes pursued Lopez who fled to Hub Pool Hall and into back alleys before being cornered in a shed on Episcopal Church grounds and arrested at 3:55 p m. Reyes died soon after from a bullet wound through the left cheek entering the brain. An inquest will likely be held today. No witness to the killing. Both men carried guns.

Boise Sept 21 A federal court jury found Arnold Smith and Richard Waltermire guilty on most counts of one indictment accusing misapplication of bank funds for real estate speculation. Smith was convicted on seven counts. Waltermire on three. They were acquitted on the second indictment regarding false entries to the comptroller.
