Fielding Spartans led 19 0 at halftime but Westside High of Weston rallied to a 26 25 victory. Sorenson and Humpherys starred for Fielding with a late Westside two point conversion sealing the win.
Reports say a majority of sage hen hunters in Bear Lake County and other open counties achieved bag limits during the day and a half season last Saturday and Sunday. Weather favored the sport and many who didn’t find birds enjoyed hill trips. Local hunters who scouted before noon Saturday shot two third limits quickly before Sunday’s bird roundups.
Roy Ye left Tuesday for Logan to attend the USAC this winter. Several families visited Blackfoot for the Fair, including Mr. and Mrs. E. D. Hymas and Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Rogers. Rex Beck and son returned to Panama after a two week visit. Daughters of Utah Pioneers meet Sept 29 with Mima Parker. Dan Lyona and Shirley Wiggington wed Sept 10 by Justice V Smith Hoge and will live in Montpelier. Many residents attended local fairs and visited friends in Montpelier Paris Blackfoot and Sterling. Dorothy Tueller hosted her bridge club with Fern Beck high score.

The wedding of Jane Satterthwaite to Arnold L Wilde of Kansas City Utah was held Thursday Sept 15 at the Bart Satterthwaite home in Garden City. Bp Bryan Booth officiated with bridesmaids Louise Rex Alice Johnson and Fern Johnson and best man Bob Satterthwaite. The couple will reside in Logan after a weeklong honeymoon. Wilde resumes studies at USAC.
The Montpelier Bears played the Cheesemakers from Afton Wyoming to a scoreless tie on the Afton gridiron last Friday. The Bears had defeated Blackfoot 20 to 18 the prior Friday.
Bloomington residents and families from Provo Paris Brigham Salt Lake and other towns colored a busy weekend with visits to Logan Pocatello Blackfoot Ely Wells and Camp Lofton. Notable names include Bateman Mecham Ward Dunford and Thornock among many relatives and friends.
Homecoming events at Fielding High School include an alumni assembly at noon a parade at 1 pm with floats from all classes and clubs and a 2 pm football game against Grace High School Admission 50 cents for adults 10 cents for children All welcome to help the Fielding Spartans defeat Grace.
Norma Kimball Myers and Edward Fila unite in a garden city ceremony performed by Justice of the Peace P A Spence. The pink satin gown bride, ring bearer Randy Myers, and four sisters as bridesmaids source a large family attendance and a lace cake table. After a brief honeymoon they will reside in Logan to pursue studies at AC.
Mr and Mrs Rayford Stevens and daughter LaRae along with Mr and Mrs Calvin Stevens and son Cal recently returned from a pleasant week in Salt Lake City. They visited Fred Stevens who has now left for his mission in Argentina.
Arthur Shirley of Fish Haven bought two registered Guernsey cows at the Intermountain sale in Ogden. One came from Greyemarsh Guernsey Farms Sequim Washington, the other from Wasatch Farms Heber City Utah. The cows are strong bloodlines. one posted a 500 pound butterfat junior two year old record in 305 days.
Merla Nye and William G. Bee were married September 16 in the Logan Temple, with Ray Christiansen officiating. A wedding dinner followed at the Bank Cafe. Mrs. Bee was valedictorian of the 1949 Fielding High School class. the couple will reside in Bloomington after a Utah honeymoon.
Mary Arnell has recovered enough to return home from Kemmerer after medical aid. William Clark, recently struck by a car, underwent ankle surgery in Ogden and is improving. his wife stays with their daughter Phyllis Williamson in Layton to visit daily.
