Whooping Crane Chicks Thrive Under Care at New Orleans Zoo
The world’s only captive whooping crane chicks are thriving at the New Orleans zoo. An aviculturist from the Bronx Zoo has raised them with careful attention to avoid past errors. The chicks hatched in May and are nearly as large as their parents. Josephine, the mother, has hatched and raised various attempts since 1940 after injuries from an hunter. Crip, the mate, is from Aransas bird refuge.

Funeral services for Heber Chase Rich Jr a pioneer rancher and local leader in Bingham County were held in Blackfoot with burial in Riverside Thomas cemetery. Rich born October 12 1889 in Paris died of a heart ailment and served LDS missions in the eastern states and England. He is survived by his widow two sons and four daughters. Attendants from Paris included Dan C Rich and Sim Rich.
