Nounan Woman Merlean Grunig Dies in Salt Lake City
Mrs. Merlean Butler Grunig 63 of Noonan Idaho died Friday at 1 15 p m in a Salt Lake hospital from age related causes. Born January 12 1882 in Logan Utah she was married to Herman O Grunig July 3 1901 in Montpelier Idaho. Survivors include her husband four sons Melvin L Grunig Oscar Herman and Logan Grunig two daughters Ed C Hoff and Mary Lou Grunig and seven grandchildren.

Polio Claims 9-Year-Old Roger Rozzelle
Roger Rozzelle nine year old son of Mr and Mrs Pat Rozzelle of Las Vegas Nevada died Saturday night in Las Vegas from polio. Burial was in Salt City with grave side services held on Wednesday. ReNee Rozzelle 12 was later found not to have polio but was ill while visiting in Salt Dake.

Wilford Price, 61, Dies After Illness in Montpelier
Wilford Price dies at 2 a.m. in Montpelier hospital after a brief illness of heart trouble and complications. He and his wife Lessia Wright Price lived in Montpelier for two years where they taught, formerly serving as principal at Fielding High School in Paris for about 15 years. He is survived by five brothers and five sisters including Dan in Ogden and Paris natives Fran Bolton Kate Rich Mia.ma Clayton Phoebe Booth and Mercy Kaley.

President John L. Clarke announces the opening date for the fall term at Ricks College is postponed from September 7 to October 7 to finish extensive renovations. Frenchman entrance exams move to October 18 with classes starting October 19. Renovations include heating, wiring, floors, labs, and a tiled swimming pool and upgraded gym facilities.

A seven and a half pound baby boy was born Sunday to Mr and Mrs Sterling Rich in Placerville California. The Rich family formerly resided in Paris. Bruce Sparks and two sons visited over Sunday and Labor Day at Walter Bird’s home, with Leah Tunks accompanying them back to Nampa for a visit. A Tuesday party at Jesse Scheidegger’s marked Mr John Scheidegger’s 80th birthday with several friends gathered. A tea at BE Crawford’s home Friday honored “Migs” Crawford Berglund with pink gladiolas on the table and gifts for the recent bride. About eight guests attended.

Three Young People Drift on Bear Lake Rescue Ends Sunburns
Three Salt Lake youths narrowly escaped drowning when their raft drifted out into Bear Lake. A 16 year old and his girlfriend plus his brother in law rode a sun tan raft tied to the old Fish Haven pier. Local searches from Fish Haven hills and a Montpelier airport plane spotted them about one mile north of Fish Haven as a motorboat arrived to assist. They stood on the raft in shallow water until rescued, suffering only sunburns.
