Murder Hearing Opens Thursday in Montpelier Slaying Case
Preliminary hearing begun at 10 00 am for William Radabaugh 64 of Montpelier on a charge of first degree murder in the May 29 shotgun slayings of Lena Johns and Mary Villanova at the Lewis Hotel. Judge Clem Humpherys granted a continuance and the case resumes in a week to ten days. Radabaugh is held without bond in Franklin County jail.

Native Receives Karl G Maeser Award At BYU Homecoming
Dr Hadward L Hart English professor received the Karl G Maeser Award during Brigham Young University's Homecoming and Founders Day Convocation. The award carries a $3 000 grant for research and travel expenses and is funded by the BYU Alumni Association. Hart, born in Bloomington, earned a B S in economics at the University of Utah in 1939 and was a Rhodes Scholar and Phi Beta Kappa member the same year. He holds an M A in English from Michigan 1941 and a Ph D in English from Oxford 1950. He is married to Eleanor Coleman and they have four children. Hart is active in professional associations and has published in multiple journals. a biography volume edited by him is slated for Harvard University Press in 1969.

Funeral services were held for Peter Neilson Hemmert 89 a Paris resident who died of natural causes October 27 in a Lava Hot Springs rest home He was born September 22 1879 in Copenhagen Denmark and married Rosa Egli in Paris December 22 1903 He was a carpenter and a member of the LDS Church Survivors include his sons George and a daughter the record ends with incomplete listing of survivors.

Rex Rogers son of Mr and Mrs Alf Rogers lies in St Mark's Hospital Salt Lake City after a three car collision Friday evening. The Rogers car skidded and was struck broadside by another vehicle. Rex suffered a fractured skull and multiple injuries while his mother, released from hospital, sustained bruises cuts and broken ribs and is the daughter of Mrs Olive Michaelson of Montpelier.
