American Legion Post 8 schedules Armistice Day events with Fieldingigh School at 11 a.m. in the FHS auditorium a basketball game at 2 p.m. a children's dance at Emerson school gym and the annual Legion Dance at the Paris pavilion in the evening.
Misa Venna Nelson and Lloyd Derricott wed in a double ring ceremony at the Idaho Falls Temple officiated by President William L. Killpack on October 24. The bride is the daughter of Hyrum Nelson of Bloomington. the groom is the son of William and Mrs. Derricott of Georgetown. Attending were Verla Berenson of Pocatello and Jay Nelson of Bloomington. A dinner followed at Fred's Cafe in Idaho Falls. The bride wore a white satin gown with a marquise yoke and long point lace sleeves. the couple plan to visit the Southwest before returning.
Community invite for a barn dance on Saturday night at the Amusement Hall in St Charles. Sponsored by Ward MIA. Mrs Jay Hann and Mrs Keith Warner attended a dinner and bridge party in Montpelier hosted by Mrs George Schoper with Mrs Herbert Robinson and Mrs Warner among prize winners.
Three Utah State Agricultural College students Robert E Howe from Murray Max Morgan of West Jordan and Dee R Morgan son of J B Morgan Liberty Idaho depart Logan for Los Angeles to represent the college in the Dairy Products Judging Contest along with Prof Paul B Larsen. The team last won first at the Pacific International Livestock Exposition in Portland and Dee Morgan was high point man while Max Morgan placed second. The Los Angeles event features 25 teams judging 10 samples of milk butter cheese and ice cream under the American Dairy Science Association and Dairy Industry Supply Association banners.
The Fish and Game department lists trapping windows for 1950. Bear Lake county allows muskrat trapping April 1 to 15. Caribou county mainly April 1 to 15 with Grays Lake exceptions. Bonneville and Franklin Ban nock Oneida Power regions have October 15 to April 15 or November windows. No seasons for beaver marten fox or fisher. Trappers must file catch reports within 90 days after close.
Ernest Armatage of Pocatello spent the weekend here with his family. Several visitors from Logan Ogden and Boise were listed with cups of tea and meals. Measured social events include dinners, business visits, deer hunting, and campus events at USAC and Colorado U. football game.
Amber Goebel announces a unit driven campaign to increase Auxiliary strength for the year ahead. The drive runs from Sept 22 through December with eligibility including wives mothers sisters and daughters of veterans and women who served in either World War. Lauriel Athay directs the effort and invites all eligible women to join.
The Idaho fish and game department reports that the general trout season closes October 31, with trout and related species including sockeye salmon and dolly varden in lakes and streams not otherwise provided for. Bear River area remains open year round, and Bear Lake on the west side stays open to December 15.

A farewell party honors Elder Daryle Morgan son of Mr and Mrs Hugh Morgan of Liberty. He departs Oct 29 at 6 30 pm in the Liberty ward meeting house before leaving Nov 7 for a mission home in Salt Lake City. Morgan is a Fielding High School class of 1948 graduate who studied at Ricks College and worked on the college's Industrial Arts building last summer.
The 11th annual fall bull sale of the Idaho Cattlemen's Association will be held in Pocatello on Saturday November 5 featuring 183 purebred Hereford bulls and 25 Hereford females from Idaho Utah and Oregon. Judging will be by Worth Hodgson and Lyman Ipsen with animals classified into A B C lots sold in order. Bulls must be 14 months old by October 1 and will be guaranteed by consignors and the association. Col E O Walter of Filer will start the sale at noon.
The 1949 upland season runs from noon October 29 to November 11 in Bannock Bingham Bonneville Fremont Franklin Jefferson Madison Caribou Oneida and Power counties with a two rooster limit. Bear Lake Clark and Teton counties are closed. No shipments outside Idaho and no field feather removal.
The Lanark area reports a busy deer hunting week with many hunters already taking deer. The Relief Society Sisters quilted in the Lanark ward chapel last Thursday. Visitors to Mrs. Agnes Toomer include Cyril Dayton and family from Dingle, Golden Cook, and Lee Toomer from Montpelier. Hazel Vallentine and David Parker spoke at Sacrament meeting. The group attended Welfare meeting in Logan on Sunday afternoon. Relief Society plans a Soci Science meeting at Elizabeth Wallentine's home Tuesday to celebrate Sister Wallentine's and Elsie Roberta's birthday lesson by Udell Roberts and baby visitations continue.
Louis W Booth extends his 18th season as first oboe with the Utah Symphony. A renowned Utah musician since 1987, he studied in Salt Lake City, Boston, Lyons, and Paris and has accompanied conductors like Maurice Abravanel and Sir Thomas Beecham. He and his wife, Belgian-born, have three daughters Colette Janine Nicole.
Calendar of Paris and Bear Lake Rangers activities in the pavilion listings with openings and events from October to December including Fielding High School operetta, Lions Club events and American Legion dates. Several entries are unclear but indicate open dates and group names.
Mr. and Mrs. A. O. Christensen of Bloomington will celebrate the fiftieth anniversary of their marriage Saturday Nov. 6 at the amusement hall in Bloomington at 8 o'clock p m. All friends are invited. No presents.
The October PTA meeting at Emerson School was led by Pres. Melinda Wyler. Mrs. Davis gave a talk on parent education and nine ladies plus Beth West sang the PTA song. Prizes went to Ruby Bolton and Maurice C. Barnett. refreshments were served.
Mrs. Aldon Tall of Rigby Idaho will headline a concert at Bear Lake Stake Tabernacle on October 23 at 7 pm to raise funds for a new chapel. Tall has shared stages in New York Washington D C and on Idaho radio and TV and will perform a program of hymns classical and popular pieces with Ralph Garrett of Pocatello singing during intermission. Tickets available at Lowe Drug Store for donation.
Logan and nearby towns record a week of visits, family gatherings, deer hunting trips, and new arrivals. Notables include Mr. and Mrs. Duane Hanson with baby from Ogden visiting relatives. Grant Rich welcoming a six pound baby daughter. and local residents visiting or hosting clubs and friends in Logan, Soda Springs, Pocatello, and Border.
