Athletic officials meet in Pocatello to place the sub district meet in Paris at the Montpelier hall after Montpelier declined. The event will gather teams from Firth, Pocatello, Malad Weston, Montpelier Paris and Grace Thatcher Soda Springs Bear Lake area for fast high grade basketball.
Dr. W. B. West of St. Anthony, a noted local physician, spent Saturday in Paris en route home from Afton Wyoming. He attended funeral services Friday for his nephew George West aged 17, son of Dr. and Mrs. G. W. West, who died October 19 after a severe pneumonia attack.
Salt Lake City landscape artist Garson Healy submits plans to the local Board of Education for landscaping and general improvements around Fielding High School. The project, to be carried out by the student body in spring 1928, follows long noted need and marks the first constructive proposal.
Miss Edna Peterson of St Charles and Roy Cochran of Montpelier married at the groom's parents home on Saturday October 15 with President Ed O Rich performing the ceremony. The Cochran family connections and OSL crew caller work are noted. couple to reside in Montpelier.
Mr and Mrs Howard Griggs have sold their Burgoyne Cafe interests in Montpelier to Mrs Laura Newbold who will take charge tomorrow morning. The Griggs family will spend the winter in Logan and return to Fish Haven in spring to locate.
W C Whittle, field superintendent for Armour Creamery Co of Pocatello, spent days in the city last week installing equipment for a local branch receiving station. The Findlay Auto Co lot is leased for cream reception with Walter Findlay in charge of the station and company interests in the area.
A meeting of the Idaho State Co operative Forestry is announced to be held in Governor Baldridge's office on Monday October 24 at 10 o clock. Notices are being sent by L H Nash state land commissioner.

Freshmen defeated Seniors 8 to 7 on Friday keeping their top spot in the Fielding class standings. The Seniors offered a strong effort but could not match the Frosh final punch, while the Frosh defense remains impregnable though their offense shows potential. Standings show Freshmen 8–0, Sophomores 1–1, Juniors 1–1, Seniors 0–3.
T H Shrontz chief clerk of the department of law enforcement will visit southern Idaho county assessors to explain the new antitheft or certificate of title act for automobiles effective January 1. The itinerary includes Paris Mountain Home Fairfield Hailey Challis Salmon Arco Blackfoot Dubois Idaho Falls St Anthony Roxburg Pocatello Malad Preston Soda Springs Gooding and more towns.

Dalton M Reed and M L Fuchs tramping in Black Smith Fork Canyon near Hyrum observed a middle sized bear with two cubs. Reed fired twice with a high powered rifle, wounding the bear within four steps. The cubs were left unharmed. three hides were prepared for rugs and bear steaks are being shared among friends.
St Louis October 24 The Post Dispatch reports a drive to award a Congressional Medal for Valor to Charles A Lindbergh for his Paris flight. It also seeks annual retired pay of 4500 for life and immediate retirement as lieutenant colonel in the regular Army Air Corps. Missouri congressmen support the plan.
Judge O R Baum resigns from the Idaho fifth judicial district effective Oct 28 1927. Jay L Downing of Pocatello named to succeed him with term to begin Nov 1 1927. Baum notes calendars clear and credits colleague Terrell and the bar for cooperation. He plans to enter private practice in Pocatello American Legion state commander Downing will join Peterson Baum and Clark firm and new office space is prepared.
Atwater Kent Radio Corporation paid 22000 dollars for a single double page color advertisement last week. Similar color campaigns ran in the Salt Lake Tribune and other leading papers as big firms shift toward heavy advertising spending.
Alfred Ricks longtime bishop of the L D S church at Sugar City died at his home after a stroke in February. He helped develop the Upper Snake River valley and later ran a mercantile business. Funeral services set for Wednesday at 2 p m in Sugar City. He was born November 28 1869 in Load Utah and was connected to Rexburg and Ricks academy through his father President Thomas Ricks.
Students from Bear Lake county met at Mrs. Stella P. Rich home to form a Bear Lakers club. Louis Christensen was elected president and Maurine Welker secretary. Members include Stella P. Rich Ione Rich Edtha Welker Louis Christensen Clifford Price Rulon Tueller Rolph Rich Nowell Budge Isaac Junford and George Wilkes.
Talk of a city curbing plan targets four blocks of Main Street from Second North to Second South and four blocks on Center Street from Fielding High School to the S. L. Depot. Officials cite lower costs than past sidewalk work and note gravel and sand are available for bargain labor. Also advertised: for sale small purebred Duroc pigs by George H. Passey at the Court House in Paris.
The Ladies Rainbow Sextet led by Sue Ernest Hewling will perform November 8 at the Stakes Tabernacle as the second Lyceum number for Fielding High School, backed by Humgsion White Bureau. The Lyona Ohio press notes high praise for the ensemble and urges hearty support.
Miss Gladys Dunn daughter of Mr and Mrs Crandell Dunn and R J Hyimas of Salt Lake were married in the city last week. The couple are well regarded and will reside in Salt Lake City as their friends extend best wishes for a happy prosperous life.

Charles Yanes returned from Ogden Utah after conference with mining engineer Walter B Cole and others about claims owned with W Smith Hoge. Cole contracted with Innes Hoge to develop the claims and work has begun with five men building bunk houses and delivering lumber. Development work will start immediately.
