County Fair Invitation Promises Recreation and Growth

Mrs J N Merkley Dies After Illness and Surgery

Mrs J N Merkley died Tuesday morning after illness and an operation for appendicitis. Born in Morgan Utah June 463 she married M Merkley of St Charles with whom she lived 27 years before moving to Blackfoot City two years ago. Survived by four sons one daughter and husband. Remains sent to St Charles for interment after arrival at the station in Pari Wednesday evening.

Opening Day Attendance in St Charles Schools

Special from St Charles reports Monday October 2 opening day attendance at 70 percent of pupils from the last census. Many students are absent to help harvest fall crops. Teachers are mostly natives of other states except Mr. H A Findlay.

Hermoine Hart Roberts Returns Back Home

Hermoine Hart Roberts dies of heart trouble at 8:00 am on October 1 in Bear Lake county after a life in Utah settlements. Born Salt Lake City 1875, she served as public instruction superintendent in Bloomington and was beloved by many. Her funeral featured speakers Jos B Shepherd A W Richards Roy Welker and others, with heartfelt tributes and music. Her memory remains in local hearts.

Bear Lake County children will receive special prices at the Fair with reduced train service during the event.
