Fielding football and Downey High clash to a 7 7 tie before a fair crowd. Fielding led 7 0 at halftime with strong running, Downey countered with aerials and scored in the final minute. Referee whistle confusion sparked Downey protests as both teams fought evenly. Next game at Soda Springs Friday.
Bear Lake Stake auxiliaries and priesthood will hold a union meeting in Paris at the stake tabernacle. President Hoy A. Welker provided the information indicating the event will take place Sunday November 16.
The corrected tally from 743 precincts shows Democrat G. P. Mix leading Republican W. W. Von Canon by 1 215 votes. Mix totals 58 056 to Von Canon 56 841 after adjustments in Clearwater and Canyon counties.
Pres Roy A Welker invited to speak at assembly of parents and students of the U S Agricultural College at Logan Utah Friday morning at 11 oclock. The program for parents runs with the students for two days.
The city graded and will surface a road from the end of the O. L. tracks to a loading dump near the depot. Solar Development Company will load phosphate into gondola cars using hoists. Shipments to Trail, B. C. smelters start within ten days.
Mrs. James H. Wallis was surprised Monday by the First Ward Relief Society officers and instructors and partners from the Stake presidency. A handkerchief shower honored her birthday with about twenty friends enjoying sociable conversation and refreshments. Irvin Eaton and J W Workman led the event in Vernal Utah.

Elizabeth Moline, long the oldest woman in Paris, died Saturday morning. Funeral rites were held Monday at the Paris First Ward chapel with interment at the city cemetery under John Stocker’s direction. Born in England in 1837, she joined the L D S Church in 1850 and moved to America in 1860. she married Simpson M. Moline in 1864. Survived by sister Deseret Rich and brothers James and M M Collings.
The Bear Lake Stake quarterly conference will be held in the tabernacle Air Paris on November 22 and 23. All Aaronic and Melchizedek Priesthood members are urged to attend. A good program is prepared and three Sunday sessions are planned at 10:00 a.m., 3:00 p.m., and 7:30 p.m. with General Authorities expected to attend.

Bear Lake Post No. 8 of the American Legion marked Armistice Day with a 10:30 a m program at Fielding High School auditorium. An afternoon football tie between Fielding and Downey followed a grand carnival ball at the local fairgrounds. The crowd joined in gratitude for those who never returned as speakers and bands presented songs, recitations, and the silent tribute of Taps.
Operations resumed this morning at the Utah Idaho Mining and Milling west of this city. The large steam boiler and other machinery installed this summer were fired up, and it is expected that work will be pushed there during the winter.
J. E. Gerber of Ogden Utah Inter Mountain representative for Key Stone Steel & Wire Company Peoria Ill manufacturers of galvanized copper bearing steel wire products visited the city Wednesday. He explored the territory for a possible distributing point here and said if workable the company would ship in carload lots and distribute to buyers from this point.
A copy of the soil survey bulletin and map covering Bear Lake valley in southeastern Idaho has been received from Fred B. Lukens. The survey was conducted by the federal bureau of chemistry and soils with the University of Idaho and state help. E. N. Poulsen led the field work with G. R. McDole and others aiding.
James L. Dunford district representative reports a $9000 life insurance claim paid to Mrs. Allred on the life of W. Bern Allred. The payout was processed this morning through Beneficial Life Insurance Company.

Ex-service men joining Bear Lake Post No 84 are invited to a turkey dinner on Saturday evening November 15 at 7 p m in the Plesding High Auditorium with Earl Shepherd as adjutant.
The Bear Lake State Bank notes a 25 year anniversary since opening in this city. Founding officers included Joseph R. Shepherd president and A K Steunenberg vice president with Wm H Young as cashier. The bank weathered panics in 1907 and postwar adjustments, and remains a strong local institution.
A turkey banquet will be served by the Women's Auxiliary after the installation of officers for the local American Legion post Saturday evening.
Professor George D Clyde of the Utah Experiment Station and Forest Ranger W B Averill carried out a snow survey on the Garaden City drainage head south of the Logan Garden City road at about 200 feet elevation. The Utah State Experiment Station and the U S Weather Bureau, with the Forest Service, have established 44 Utah snow surveys to aid valley residents.
A Hagerman valley musk rat farm now houses over 80 000 rats in a 160 acre enclosure, up 300 percent in the season. The first fur from the herd will be marketed this winter.
Mrs Dan Price underwent an operation for goitre at Budge hospital Saturday. Later reports say she is progressing as well as can be expected.
Official returns from the county canvass show the results for U S Senator William Borah Addison Smith governor McMurray Ross etc with vote tallies. The document lists numerous state and local offices including secretary of state attorney general superintendent of schools mine inspector district judges and commissioners along with amendments and a note on visiting relatives of Montpelier.
Boise reports show GOP gains and losses as late counts shift seats. In Idaho the Senate majority sits 23 to 21 for Republicans, with House at 42 to 28. Mrs. Davis widens lead while Mix loses ground by 6815 votes on 628 precincts. Lieutenant governor race tightens with Mix trailing by 341 votes across 791 precincts. Official totals await county canvasses.
Idaho Turkey Growers association sold a Thanksgiving pool of 15 to 20 carloads totaling about 3300 birds at Boise last night. Top price 24 cents per pound for number one young toms with other grades priced from 22 to 14 cents. Payments are cash at delivery and birds will be sent to eastern and coastal agents. dealer names were withheld.
The Cokeville phosphate plant resumed operation last weekend after receiving new parts for the crusher equipment, which had broken down a week earlier. Mr and Mrs Robert Clayton of Sharon visited Armistice Day at Mrs Emma Clayton's home.
