The Bear Lake Stake quarterly conference will be held at the tabernacle on Saturday evening and Sunday November 21 and 22. The Saturday service will be open to the public with the stake choir performing and special musical selections. An unusual program is planned and attendees are promised a profitable time.
Dr. George F. Ashley proprietor of Burgoyne Pharmacy in Montpelier installed a 24 foot long soda fountain with tile finish and lunch counter last week. The store interior is being remodeled to better serve a large patronage and improve services at the drug store in southeastern Idaho.
Federal aid funds totaling 1 330 448 dollars are available for winter road work in Idaho. Idaho State Automobile Association manager R G Cole notes the fiscal year 1938 federal allotment supports a two year program to maximize employment. Net national apportionment is 105 875 000 dollars with 16 000 000 deducted as part of an emergency fund. Local labor preference and a base wage scale will guide projects administered by the Bureau of Public Roads.

Frank Duesenberry of Utah Power and Light, with wife and daughter Addie Mey, has moved from Provo to Paris to head Bear Lake properties. He has 37 years with the company and will supervise local operations from here. B. T. Hegner, longtime Camp Lifton superintendent, moves to Idaho Falls. Duesenberry has long been linked to Bear Lake construction since 1900.
Priesthood quorums and auxiliaries in the Bear Lake stake will hold union meetings this month on the 15th due to the quarterly conference. The M I A union meets Saturday afternoon November 21 at Emerson school. Stake and ward officers are asked to attend. Mr and Mrs Claud Sprouse of Garden City Utah visited Paris Saturday.
A. E. Duke Bear Lake county agent reports turkeys will be graded under federal standards when loaded around December 10. Special prime and commercial grades depend on fat coverage and absence of pin feathers. Weather affects feathering and skin color. blue skin means not ready, yellow skin grades if dressed properly. Contracts must be in on time or birds go to non pool markets.
Ward conferences were held in St. Charles and Bloomington last Sunday with Presidents Welker Hart Low and Fred J Price attending. Reports from the organizations showed wholesome growth in activities. Ward conferences for Paris wards are scheduled for November 29.
Armistice Day was observed yesterday by the local American Legion post and the Women’s Auxiliary with a public meeting at Fielding High School. The program included music, a world war story, speeches, solos, a moment of silence, Taps, and a grand ball in the evening.
