Paris to Become Center of New Phosphate Industry

Salt Lake City investors bought Grandy phosphate beds in Paris canyon and formed Western Phosphate Mining & Manufacturing with officers Lewis A. Jeffs and E. J. Hawke of Salt Lake City, and Margaret Grandy Roy Az Welker on the board. The venture aims to start immediately by opening the vein and establishing mining stalls with farmers. Jeffs, vice president and western agent for United States Phosphate Co., says the gray phosphate rock found here is rare and promises a significant local economic boost.

Veterans Win Insight on Utah Indian War Pensions
