Pocatello Good Will Tour Break Fast at Paris

About one hundred hosts and guests gathered for a fielding high school banquet to honor the Pocatello goodwill tour. Paris Lions club organized, Bear Lake Stake Relief Society prepared the meal, speeches highlighted agriculture and local industry, with university and community leaders emphasizing collaboration and opportunity.

Four New School Houses May Be Built In County

At a county commissioners meeting the four condemned school houses in Geneva Fish Haven St Charles and Ovid were discussed for safety upgrades. The Ovid building may be rebuilt soon after state approval to bond and bill. State welfare inspector Platt and engineer Stevens presented condition reports. Boise agent John R. McKinney met with County Assessor J W Sirrine on tax matters.

Gold Star mothers and widows visiting France wept during a Pershing led tribute at the tomb of France’s unknown soldier on the Arc de Triomphe. Mrs. Sarah Thompson of New York laid a laurel wreath amid attendance by General Gouraud, US officers, and Paris Legion members.

Cooking School Attracts Large Crowd In Local Week

The Utah Power & Light Company cooking school at the Browning building drew many town and out-of-town ladies, teaching recipes on Hotpoint and Westinghouse stoves and GE refrigerators. Miss Lillian Wennergren, noted home economist, demonstrated with praise, prizes were awarded daily to attendees including Mrs. F J Foulger and Mrs. Eva Parker.

Paris Cheese Plant Reports 1929 Dairy Output Rise

The Paris Cheese plant of the Mutual Creamery Co. recorded 2 723 271 pounds of milk in 1929 producing 265 838 pounds of cheese. Bear Lake County ranked ninth in Idaho cheese production for the year, its only dairy recognition.

Cheese sold at 205 dollars per pound and farmers received 1.77 dollars per hundredweight of milk. Total cheese and whey cream sales brought in 25 128.32 dollars, with patrons receiving 21 601.27 dollars.
