Seed Growers Leader Seeks Dry Pea Seed Crop at Bear Lake

Fred OC Maynard of Associated Seed Growers Inc plans a Paris meeting on Friday at 1 30 p m at the Court House to discuss dry pea seed as a cash crop for Bear Lake Valley. The company offers loans of seed and aims to secure 600 to 1000 acres for a season with 85 days from drilling to harvest and mid August crop removal.

Seventies Elders Entertain at Paris Second Ward Event

The High Priests and Seventies of Paris Second ward hosted an entertainment for the Hitlers group of fiat ward in the High School auditorium last Friday evening. Prof. Irwin Jensen led in community singing and L. T. Shepherd gave the invocation. W. Smith Hoge delivered the welcome, Wendel Stucki spoke as elders president, with musical numbers by Ringle and Fox and a quartet led by Veda Shepherd. Mrs. Sadie Bird paid tribute to the priesthood and Ezra J Passey honored the wives of the priesthood. Refreshments were described as delicious and dancing followed.

Bloomington Woman M W Thornock 54 Dies of Pneumonia

Mrs M W Thornock aged 54 died last week from pneumonia in Bloomington. Funeral services were held at the Bloomington chapel with interment in the village cemetery. Bishop G E Hulme dedicated the grave. Survived by husband three sons Ralph Ross Leon and Edna a grandchild two sisters and several brothers. She was a longtime L D S member and former Old Folks Committee secretary.

L. D. S. Church Plans 100th Anniversary in April

L D S Church prepares a four day centennial conference in Salt Lake City with up to 30000 attendees. A pageant titled The Message of the Ages will be staged nightly featuring nearly 1000 participants. The Mormon Century Book brochure will be distributed to members on the eve of the event to highlight pioneer achievements.

Paralyzed Stroke Fatal to Ovid Mother

Mrs Val Hedberg 22 of Ovid died at home last Wednesday from a stroke of paralysis after giving birth on the 24th of last month. Funeral services were held at the Ovid ward chapel with interment at the local cemetery. Survived by a husband and one month old baby. daughter of Mr and Mrs George Crossley of Star Valley. Town visitors included Mr and Mrs Claud Sprouse of Garden City Utah.

Ex service men urged to file claims by April 6 1930

Ex servicemen with disability must file claims with the U S Veterans Bureau by April 6 1930 under the World War Veterans Act. Applications are available through service officers of the American Legion the Red Cross or at local bureau offices. Veterans with prior claims that were disallowed must submit evidence linking disabilities to service.

Ready to Open the Park Road

The Bureau of Highway ordered snow equipment sent to Ashton to begin removing the snow blockade between Ashton and Yellowstone Park. Idaho equipment will do the work though Montana will cover the cost eastward from the Montana line to West Yellowstone. The road has been blocked since early heavy snow. opening is expected around April 1.

The Bear Lake county spelling bee crowned Lark Allred Paris first and Lois Passey Lanark second. Allred will compete in Pocatello for the district title with the state winner earning a trip to Washington. Highway Upgrades Keep Utah-Georgetown Route Smooth
