Evangelist h w butz travels by foot through valley
A Newark to Cincinnati evangelist H W Butz walked through the valley to gauge reception. He reports 29 of 30 motorists refuse rides, 20 of 21 clergymen deny aid, six drinks offered for coffee, 12 bootleggers offered jobs, and he is repeatedly left on the road with only one car in 50 stopping. He notes one hold up every 118 miles, warning insurers of lawlessness and calling for more enforcement.
