1945 License Plates Must Be Purchased by March 31
Bear Lake county assessor James N Transtrum began issuing the 1945 motor vehicle license plates. The new plates show a change from 4 A to 2 B and only rear plates are issued. Orange color with bold figures. Lauritzens in Salt Lake Try to See Wounded Son Loyal
Mr and Mrs Wm Lauritzen visited Salt Lake City for a weekend hoped to meet their son Loyal wounded in Europe. His orders changed and he was sent to Tacoma Washington instead of Bushnell hospital Brigham City, allowing only a brief family visit.

Lt Ralph Findlay to Receive New Assignment After 35 Missions
1st Lt. Ralph F. Findlay a 22 year old from Bloomington Idaho has reached Army Air Forces Redistribution Station No 2 in Miami Beach for reassignment after completing a tour outside the continental United States He flew 35 missions as a B 24 pilot in Europe earning the Air Medal with five clusters and a DFC recommendation. His father Ralph Findlay of Bloomington and wife Mona M Findlay of Lisman Alabama are noted.

Local Man's Outfit Spanned Serchio River in Italy On Fifth Army
Pfc. Keith S Brimhall of the 17th Engineer General Service Regiment served with the Fifth Army on the Italian front. The unit spanned the Serchio River with a 270-foot timber pile bent bridge, one of many bridges built since last August 1. The regiment also assembled a 530-foot Bailey bridge over the Arno, repaired a 1628 masonry arch on Route 2, and cleared a Arno site using 6000 pounds of TNT for a 400-foot two-lane span.

Lt Franklyn B Pugmire Killed In Action In Germany
First Lieutenant Franklyn B Pugmire is reported killed in action in Germany on February 28. Born December 23, 1920 in Paris Idaho, he attended Logan High and Utah State Agricultural College and served as LDS mission president in Vermont and New Hampshire. He married Donna Mackay on leave, later served with the First Army on the German front. He is survived by his wife, parents, and four sisters.

The Paris Chapter of the American Red Cross over subscribed its War Fund quota by more than $500 per Roll Call chairman Jesse R Matthews. Ward totals show each community surpassed goals and the Liberty auction netted $141.45 for the Red Cross War Fund along with additional donations and items sold.

Darrell H Matthews, son of Mr. and Mrs J R Matthews of Liberty Idaho, promoted from corporal to staff sergeant at a 15th AAF base in southern Italy. Mr and Mrs Karl Gilgen of Camp Lifton report their son T Sgt Karl P Gilgen is missing in action over Germany since February 21. He enlisted December 10, 1941, trained at New Guinea for 17 months, returned to the United States, then volunteered for a six month assignment before serving eight months in the European theatre. The 31 year old Army Air Corps member has two sons living in Phoenix, Arizona.

Brother of Mrs Lowe Dies at Twin Falls Saturday
Don Phillip Olsen 31 prominent Kimberly farmer died Saturday in a Twin Falls hospital after a short illness. His brother Major A L Olson of the army medical corps was flown to Twin Falls from Michigan but had returned to Camp Custer, Michigan, believing his brother was recovering. Olsen died of a blood clot. Surviving are his widow eight sons his parents seven brothers and sisters, one sister Mrs Sherman Lowe of Paris.
