Rangers Name Bear Lake Queen at Paris Rodeo Grounds
Wendy Rigby was chosen Bear Lake Ranger Queen at the annual contest held Saturday evening at the Paris rodeo grounds. First attendant is Marcia Bartschi, and Wendy Pitchford is the second attendant. The new queen and attendants will reign over the Rangers Fourth of July celebration and participate in Ranger activities during the year.

The Bear Lake County Grassman Tour was finalized by committee chair Charles Hulme. Departing Montpelier City Hall at 9:00 am next Tuesday July 1, the group will visit Slug Creek ranches and reach Austin Ranch by 12:45 for a Dutch oven cookout.

Mr and Mrs Lloyd Hansen of Soda Springs report their son Craig Hansen was killed in Vietnam. Arrangements for the funeral are pending the arrival of a military officer to confer with the family. The Hansens lived in Paris for many years and Craig spent most of his life there.

Martha Wuthrich Succumbs After Long Illness
Martha Lucy Kaufmann Lewis Wuthrich 71 of Paris died June 21 in Soda Springs after a long illness. Born August 17 1897 in Neuchatel Switzerland to Samuel Julius and Josephine Kaufmann. Survived by son Grant Lewis of Leadville daughters Velma Hansen Paris and Jean Dickson Salt Lake City 14 grandchildren 11 great grandchildren and brother Paul Kaufmann Salt Lake City. Funeral held at 1 pm in Paris LDS.

Estella Victoria Shepherd Jaussi, born August 22, 1890 in Paris, died Tuesday at Bear Lake Memorial Hospital. She married John Jaussi June 8, 1911 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple and was a longtime LDS Church member. Funeral services set for Friday at 1:00 p.m. in the Paris LDS Ward Chapel.

Cyclist Hurt in Head-On Collision Near Georgetown
Sunday morning at 9 30 a motorcycle rider Eugene Allen Silkey 21 of Tulsa collided head-on with a car driven by George J Van Ortwick of St Helens Oregon four miles north of Georgetown. The cyclist was critically injured taken to Bear Lake Memorial Hospital and then transferred to Logan. The car suffered about 700 in damage. The crash remains under sheriff investigation.

Giant puffball found three miles up Bloomington Canyon
Eugene Hart and his son Winston discovered a 17 pound puffball on a grassy hillside last Thursday. Puffballs like mushrooms form enclosed fruit with spores. the giant variety may reach three feet high and four feet long. All puffballs are edible when white inside. color changes signal loss of flavor.
