Baby of Bennetts Dies Two Days After Birth
Word arrived from Paris of the birth and death of a baby daughter to Mr and Mrs Lynn Bennett of Preston. The infant lived only two days after birth. Graveside services were conducted Saturday in Preston. Mr Bennett is the music teacher at Fielding High School and is spending the summer in Preston.

Team of Horses Die After Eating Poisoned Grain
A pair of valuable horses belonging to W. K. Matthews of Liberty died after consuming poisoned grain left in a wagon bed. About a quart and a half of grain had been used for squirrels earlier and the team died within minutes to 45 minutes. The horses were to be used in the Centennial wagon train and were valued at about $500.

Northwest boat operators cited for safety violations
Coast Guard boarding teams cited one third of boats in Washington Oregon and Idaho during April and May for motorboat regulation violations. Of 2616 boardings 672 lacked proper equipment or displayed numbers inadequately and 531 of 872 total citations were for improper numbers or display methods. Washington led with 1739 boardings and 617 violations followed by Oregon 750 boardings and 215 violations, Idaho 127 boardings and 40 violations.

Grace area potato producers met to plan a local packing house for Caribou county spuds. They currently ship about 250000 sacks to Blackfoot at 25 cents per bag for transport, and estimate local plant costs at 60000 to 80000 dollars. A Texas broker will meet growers in Grace to provide machinery, with a target start around November 1 for a six month winter payroll.

The Centennial Wagon Train sponsored by Bear Lake Stake of the LDS Church arrives in Paris after traveling from Preston. Alfred Keetch is injured when a horse falls in Emigration Canyon and is taken to a Montpelier hospital. The group, with ten wagons and about 60 riders, was welcomed by hundreds as they reenact the pioneers trek to Bear Lake Valley.
