Snow Water Content Rises 108 Percent West Valley Courses
February 1 surveys by SCS and USFS show higher elevations on the west side of the valley recording a 108 percent jump in water content since January 1. Emigrant Summit and Emigration Canyon reported 71 inches of snow with 20.4 inches of water and 28 inches of snow with 8.1 inches of water respectively, reflecting January rains' impact.

The Bear Lake Basin Community Concert Association reorganized January 23 with Mrs. Ruby Dunford as president. New officers include Loraine Jacobsen, Cliff Sizemore, Maxborn, Darlene Rich, and H G Ericsson, with committee chairs listed. The Columbus Boys Choir comes to Soda Springs February 6 and the next local concert February 14 at Bear Lake High School features Varel Bailly Company with seven French singers.

Mrs. Bedford Bird Undergoes Heart Surgery in Alabama
Mrs. Bedford Bird of Knox ville Kentucky recently had heart surgery at the Heart Research Center at the University of Alabama Birmingham. Her son Dr Terrell Bird resides there. Mrs Bird is Grace Sorenson formerly of Ovid and sister to Melinda Sparks of Paris. Mr Bird is son of the late Walter Bird and Sadie Bird. The couple has two daughters at Brigham Young University and a married daughter in New Jersey.

UPRE Denied Withdraw Pullman Service by Idaho Panel
In a January hearing the Idaho Public Utilities Commission denied Union Pacific Railroad requests to discontinue Pullman trains 17 and 18 between Denver and Portland and trains 35 and 69 between Salt Lake City and Butte. The decision followed an Interstate Commerce Commission standard that service must not deteriorate.

Idaho school districts receive 7 million from state fund
Idaho school districts were sent a third quarterly payment of 7,099,016.85 from the Public School Income Fund, totaling 25,662,105.27 or 78.9 percent of the 32,861,050.44 estimated for 1968-69. Final payment due before July 1. Bear Lake District 1 No. 33 got 62,901.38 for maintenance plus January tax apportionment of 273,349.72.
