Funeral Services Held for Dr. Franklin Budge

Dr. Franklin Budge, 58, longtime Paris dentist, died after a lengthy illness. Funeral services were held at the Paris Second Ward chapel with Bishop Edwin T. Shepherd presiding. Speakers recalled his kindness to children and faith, with music by local quartets and a benediction by H. R. Shepherd. He is survived by multiple siblings and a wide circle of relatives.

Bear Lake Boys Excel in College Livestock Team Win

Merrell Cook of Paris was on Utah State Agricultural College’s livestock judging team which won first place at the Intermountain Intercollegiate judging contest in Ogden. The Aggies scored 2,498 with Colorado 2,486 Wyoming 2,426 and BYU 1,658. Team members included John Barnard Deweyville John Stewart Salt Lake City Milton Madsen Manil Merrell Cook Paris Idaho Dwain Pearson Marysvale and Bedford Bird Paris alternate. Cook is a senior and Bird a junior in the agriculture school with majors in animal husbandry.

Orphan Boy Perishes in Snow After Sheep Range Trek

June Burrington, 17, left Powell Wyoming with a dog to tend a sheep flock. A sudden snow squall separated him from companions who returned home. He built a fire under a bridge but wandered off and froze to death in an open range, leaving the faithful dog as a vigil kept nearby. He lived with his uncle, Gos Cozzehis, a sheepman.
