Local Cancer Training School to Hear Beadle in Pocatello

The twelfth annual area training school for key cancer workers will convene in Pocatello March 1 and 2 with George W Beadle, a California Institute of Technology biologist, as speaker. The Paris 2nd Ward hosts an evening of basketball and entertainment at Fielding High School gym on Friday March 1 at 7 30 p m. A girls game features teams from Paris wards and a humorous fat men vs thin men contest is planned. Bear Lake County Seeks Farmers for Conservation Reserve

Farmers may sign contracts to place cropland in the Conservation Reserve through March 15 1957. Eligible land must not be in crops, and acreage reductions apply. Contracts run 8 to 5 years for existing cover, 5 to 10 years for new cover, or 10 years if trees are planted. Initial payment up to 80 percent plus $8.50 per acre annually.

Fielding FFA Chapter Honors At Parents And Sons Banquet

The Fielding Chapter of the PRA held its third annual Parents and Sons Banquet February 20 in the high school gym with a baked ham dinner served by the Home Economics department. Glen Ward and James Transtrum received Honorary Chapter Farmer degrees with pins and weights. Talks were given by W. K. Matthews and Van Ness Wallentine. Wallentine had previously earned Honorary Chapter Farmer and Honorary State Farmer degrees. President Robert Transtrum presided with chapter officers assisting.
