Idaho State Government Costs Fall in 1923

Boise reports show total state government expenditures for 1923 at 5.726 million dollars, down 596 thousand from 1922. Education and higher learning accounts total 1.676 million, highways 2.109 million, general government 365 thousand, with total receipts near 9.942 million including 3.388 million in tax revenue and 2.615 million in non revenue receipts.

Funeral services held Sunday for pioneer woman Louisa A. Cole

Impressive services at the First Ward Chapel honored Louisa A. Cole 70 a Bear Lake pioneer who died February 7 after illness. Speakers praised her character while the stake choir and soloist Bertha Cook enriched the ceremony. Burial followed at the city cemetery beside her husband with eulogies from Bishop Dan Rich and others.

Another Pioneer Called Home in Bear Lake Parish

Funeral services for George B. Spencer 84 longtime Bear Lake pioneer were held Tuesday in Paris Second Ward. Speakers praised his upright service to mankind, with interment in the city cemetery. Spencer, born February 21 1840 in Massachusetts, crossed plains with Brigham Young party arriving Salt Lake October 1848 and later served missions to Switzerland Germany and the Cherokee area. He married Leonora Horne in 1867 and settled in Paris Idaho after working with Zion's Cooperative Mercantile Institution.

Woman's Body Exhumed in Estate Inquiry

City officials opened an investigation into the death of Mrs. Wan Sea Logg Albility, wife of Geo. Reiley, after relatives prompted the inquiry. Harry B. Winn, her husband, said he was shocked by the probe and his attorney noted the allegation he killed his wife to inherit the estate. The estate is about 34000, with the death certificate citing heart failure as the cause.

Former resident visits Paris after sister's funeral

Mrs James Hart, a former Paris resident now of Salt Lake, attended funeral services for her sister Mrs Louisa Cole. She left Paris with her husband and family over seventeen years ago for Nampa then Salt Lake City. Mr Hart served as Bear Lake county auditor for several terms.

Dr Lasbrook Laker Dies in Salt Lake At 51

Dr Lasbrook Bryceon Laker a prominent Eureka physician died Friday morning in a Salt Lake hospital at age 51. Born November 6 1872 in St Charles he practiced in Eureka since 1905 serving railroad and mining firms. Survived by wife Mrs Grace Maude Spencer Laker and siblings in Fish Haven Paris and St Charles.
