Fire damages McClellan home in Fish Haven attic blaze
Neighbors aided to control a Sunday fire at J. D. McClellan residence in Fish Haven while the owners were away in Jackson. Fire started from an exploding oil furnace in the attic. Damage estimated between 3000 and 4000 dollars with smoke and water impacts.

The Bear Lake High Bears won two games last weekend to rise from fourth to third in SEIC standings. Key players included Dale Munk with a 6 point burst against Malad and Russ Messerly with 15 points. Ipsen and Nate added 10 each as Bear Lake beat Malad 69 64. They then beat Marsh Valley 64 52 at home, with Kevin Nate scoring 19, Ipsen 14 and Neff 12 for Marsh Valley. The Montpelier Chamber of Commerce annual banquet drew many members and guests to Hacienda Supper Club. Guest speaker Paul Harmon, educator and author from Provo, Utah, spoke as chamber president Kenson E. Pollard led the event and honored longtime secretary Beth Allred and other leaders. The Big Bear Award recognized the Montpelier Lions Trio for public service.

Born June 2 1910 in St Charles he married LaRee Peterson October 2 1933 in Randolph. Survived by wife a daughter Donna Beck son Monte J five grandchildren two brothers and a sister. Funeral Friday at 10 00 am at 8090 South State Salt Lake City with graveside in St Charles Cemetery.
