Bloomington Man Injured When Struck by Car

A Bloomington man, James Payne, sustained a compound fracture of the right leg plus cuts and bruises after being struck by a car on U.S. Highway 89, three tenths of a mile north of Bloomington. He had chased a calf into the road with Ben Bateman before the collision. Kent Michaelson of St. Charl was driving the car and attempted to swerve but struck Payne. He was taken to Bear Lake Memorial Hospital. the Bear Lake County Sheriff’s Office investigated the crash. The story also notes county crash statistics and driver’s license receipts for the year.

Fielding High honors list reflects term grades

Seventeen seniors juniors and freshmen at Fielding High School earned term honors. High honors went to seniors Neil Budge Tom Findlay Craig Olsen Brad Rich and Mardene Beck along with juniors Lindon Parks Nancy Hulme Betty Parker and Jolenene Hulme and freshman Jeanene Pugmire.

Sara G Hoge Dies in Blackfoot

Sara G Hoge dies in Blackfoot after a life in education and civic work. Born October 17, 1884 in Dingle she married Dr Walter S Hoge in 1913 and lived in Blackfoot since. She taught seven years and was active in the LDS Church and local clubs. She led civic efforts and the Current Event Club.

Jeep Patrol Advances in Bear Lake County

The Bear Lake County Sheriff’s Jeep Patrol grows to 20 riders and 10 4‑wheel drive units with radios. Five new members passed probation and were deputized, including Mike Pugmire and Kent Michel en Groyd. The group adds equipment from fundraisers and plans office remodeling at Montpelier City Hall and base station radio purchases.

Mardene Beck Chosen as Fielding High Betty Homemaker Placeholder

Mardene Beck 67 homemaker at Fielding High School earned high placement in a December written homemaking exam for senior girls. She received a silver charm and was named Co ed correspondent. Beck is active in student council NHS and FHA and edits the school paper.

Fielding to Host Fifth District Class B Tourney

Fielding High School will host the Fifth District Class B basketball tournament in Montpelier High gym on February 22 23 and 24. Teams Grace North Gem Westside and Fielding compete for first and second place trophies. Admission is 1.00 for adults and 5c for students with activity cards. First game starts at 7 00 each evening with 15 minutes between games.

Price, Elizabeth Reese, 84, dies in Salt Lake City

Elizabeth Reese Price 84 of Salt Lake City and formerly Bloomington died Feb 4 at a Salt Lake City hospital from natural causes. Born November 9 1882 in Bloomington she was a daughter of George and Elizabeth Reese. She married Joseph S Price June 1 1904 in the Logan LDS Temple and was active in the LDS Church. She leaves a large family including husband four sons seven daughters numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. Funeral services were held Tuesday at the South Second LDS Ward Chapel with interment in Salt Lake City Cemetery.
