Workmen continue repairs at the Utah Power and Light Company Camp Lifton pumping plant. A temporary cofferdam was built south of the station to access the channel, which was excavated to reach the foundation, with a mid March completion target. New sheet steel beds, interlocking piling to 30 feet, erosion control piling, and bank cribbing will be installed along the channel south of the sluice gates.

Former Bear Lake man dies in Preston
Parfey Leon Allred, 71, died Monday morning at his Preston home after an extended illness. He was born July 24, 1884, in St. Charles Idaho, son of Marvin A. and Amanda Bird Allred. The family moved to Paris as a child, he attended Fielding Academy and BYC in Logan, and drove mail for his father on a 150 mile route from Afton through Idaho and Utah to Evanston. He married Pearl Fackrell May 19, 1905, later solemnized at the Logan Temple. The couple lived in Faris before moving to Preston in 1915. He worked for Utah Power and Light while purchasing right of way for major power lines, served as deputy assessor, then assessor for three terms, city judge six years, city clerk two years, and at death was Justice of the Peace in Franklin County district 5. Surviving are his wife, no sons P Edwin Allred of Logan and L Dale Allred of Preston, daughter Mrs Belva Hart of Preston, seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren, five sisters Mrs Exfle Thomander of Gate Lake, Mrs Leah Bird of Paris, Mrs Karma Enson of American Falls, Mrs Worma Spatig and Mrs Wright of Preston. Funeral services were held Wednesday in the Preston and Ward Chapel, burial in Preston City Cemetery.

The Too-wi-da District staged a Court of Honor at the LDS Tabernacle here. Seven boys earned Eagle Scout badges and merit and first class awards were presented. J W Gibbons of Garden City dies at 81 at his daughter’s home in Fairview Wyoming. Born October 10 1874 in Laketown Utah he lived in Meadowville Round Valley Garden City and a mission to eastern states. Survived by widow two daughters one son and many siblings. Funeral held Garden City Ward Chapel with interment in Garden City Cemetery.

Utah Power & Light seeks Idaho Public Utilities Commission approval to supply 385000 kilowatts of interruptible power and 2500 kilowatts of firm electricity to Central Farmers Fertilizer Company for a new elemental phosphorus furnace at Georgetown Canyon six miles northeast of Georgetown.
