Forty Feet of Feeder Cattle Drowned in Garden City Lake
Thirty nine head of feeder cattle drowned last Friday night in Garden City lake. J. W. Gibbons and son Lowell had placed the herd on the lake shore to feed as in past years. A wind and snow storm drove the cattle onto the ice and it gave way, sinking the herd about eight feet of water. The Hereford white faced yearlings and two year olds weighed about 600 pounds each, totaling a loss near fifteen thousand dollars. Cattle were recovered Saturday morning by Garden City men and a Logan firm may salvage the animals.
