At a special meeting of the board of county commissioners last Saturday William Hunter was appointed to fill the vacancy in the office of county assessor caused by the death of Milford Williams. Twelve petitions and applications were filed. Hunter recently completed a two year term as commissioner from the second district and has long resided in the county. He managed the Hunter and Gray ranch east of Werdboro.

Frederick William Hurst 72 a pianist cabinet maker artist longtime Bear Lake resident died Saturday at 8:45 am at his Logan Utah home after stomach illness. Born February 23 1860 in Salt Lake he lived in Logan since childhood returning from Paris in 1916. He built cabinets for the Cadiz County Library and the Logan L D S temple and painted in the temple. Survived by widow Deseret Lindsay Hurst six sons and daughters eight relatives listed. Funeral held in Logan L D S Ninth Ward chapel with burial at Logan City Cemetery.

New Ruling Provides Idaho Teacher Certification Protections
The Idaho State Board of Education adopted stricter rules for out of state certified teachers. Beginning January 1, 1933 teachers with credentials from outside Idaho must meet Idaho requirements and attend an Idaho term of ten weeks for elementary or six weeks for high school certificates. Smith Hughes federal standards are accepted for high school certification. Nine quarter hours of practice teaching are required for elementary certificates, and all applicants must study at an Idaho institute for required weeks. Information is being shared by County Superintendent Mrs Evva A Beagles.
