Ovid Man Injured After One Car Roll Over
Ovid resident Carl Beck, 25, suffered multiple fractures and serious injuries when his car, owned by his mother Mrs Exdris Beck, left U S 89 between St Charles and Fish Haven. The northbound crash shattered a utility pole, tore 97 feet from a fence, and caused a power outage before Beck was taken to Bear Lake Hospital in Montpelier.

Fines levied for cutting Christmas trees in forest areas

Christmas Gift Lights Bring Free Power to Many Utah Towns
Utah Power and Light offers free electricity to illuminate about 72 000 holiday bulbs in over 160 cities and towns in Utah Idaho and Wyoming this season. Burton C. Martin says the free power is for holiday lighting on streets and parks in communities served directly by UP&L. Lowell D Nielson Dies in Salt Lake Hospital
Lowell Dee Nielson 48 of Ovid died Sunday in a Salt Lake City hospital after surgery. He was born August 16, 1925 in Ovid, son of Peter and Mary Nielson. He married Audrey Hayes May 28 1947 in the Salt Lake UDS Temple. Survived by widow four sons Colleen Louise a daughter and his parents a brother and a sister. Funeral 1:00 p.m. Thursday at the Liberty LDS Ward Chapel with interment in Ovid Cemetery.

Gary Daggett Still Missing as Warrant Is Filed
Gary O. Daggett a 29 year old Montpelier businessman remains missing and a warrant and complaint were filed with Bear Lake County Sheriff Tuesday morning. The warrant alleges removal of mortgaged property without the mortgagor permission. Daggett has been missing since November 19 and his whereabouts are unknown. He managed the Montpelier Credit Bureau with offices in Montpelier and Soda Springs.

Haddock Named Foreman at United States Steel Geneva Works
L Dunford Haddock, formerly of Paris, has been appointed General Foreman of Electrical Operations at United States Steel Geneva Works, effective December 1. Born January 20 1925 in Paris, he previously worked as a Navy minesweeper sound technician and now resides with his parents in Montpelier. He married Betty Curtis of Provo and they have three children and a granddaughter. He is the youngest man ever named to the post.
