Southeast ships 20 cars turkeys to markets

In Pocatello, the Eeastern Idaho cooperative pool shipped twenty cars loaded with 11 000 turkeys for Christmas markets in recent days. D P Donahue, manager, said six carloads of turkeys from local producers were sent in a single consignment to New York City.

Board To Approve $25,000 In Claims

The State Board of Examiners announced receipt of a batch of claims totaling $26,000 for the martial law period during the summer forest crisis. The county board of commissioners met in a two day session focusing on taxes as a major issue. A. E. Thiel and H. Groo urged county aid for over 40 needy families, with the board to review. Building Burns Pocatello Fire Heavy Loss

Joseph Weston Laid to Rest in Laketown Utah

Funeral services for Joseph Weston were held in Laketown with speakers Hyrum Nebeker Walter Weston and others. The crowd of 202 paid respects to a longtime church worker. a large surviving family includes Lydia Morley, multiple children and many grandchildren. Weston, born in England, lived in Laketown and Logans. he served twenty years under Bishop Ira Nebeker.

Probate Judge Haddock reviewed submissions. average grant is 1500 dollars. Bear Lake county budgeted 8000 for this law and payments begin next month. LaVon Hill nets huge mountain trapper bounty near Soda Springs

A Pocatello Tribune special from Soda Springs reports trapper LaVon Hill of the Caribou county Wool rowers association returned Wednesday from a three month in the ranges with a total take of 87 coyotes three cinnamon bears three lynx and 160 porcupines. The bounty totals 705 dollars and is among the largest catches in years for such a short period.

Cattle Market Depressed Says John Clay

The weekly market letter from John Clay and Company of Denver notes a three week decline in prices, with a $1 per cwt drop on short fed cattle last week especially for light and medium quality stock. Demand for feeders weakens as more cattle sell at $3 to $4 and some decent steers bring $2 to $2.50. Many feeders cannot finance themselves while fat hogs and lambs are cheap, and the duration of the downturn remains unpredictable.

January Pool Turkeys Graded by Northwest Growers

Farmers from Bear Lake brought 3500 turkeys to join the Northwest Turkey Growers pool last Wednesday. About 2000 birds were set aside for the January pool after careful grading. County Agent Duke oversaw grading and fees with the grower favored in any grading questions. Growers reported satisfaction with the process.
