Idaho phosphate industry posts 11 million in 1960 sales

Senator Frank Church said Idaho producer activity reached 11 million dollars in phosphate products in 1960, up about 3.5 million from 1959. Fertilizer manufacture and phosphoric acid production drove the rise, with several plants in Caribou Bear Lake and Ingham counties and key firms listed including Food Machinery Chemical Monsanto and J R Simplot.

Laketown Youth Wins Danforth Leadership Scholarship

Gorge Robinson 18 of Laketown Utah received a Danforth leadership training scholarship to attend a camp in Michigan August 13 to 27. The 4 H Livestock judging team member and former secretary and president of his club will use the program to develop leadership and life skills for guiding others.

Special School Election Notice in Bear Lake County Idaho

The Board of Trustees announces a special election in Fish Haven Bern and Bennington on Tuesday August 15 1961 from 2 PM to 7 PM to decide the continuation of a school attendance unit. Official ballots ask discontinuance yes or no with two thirds voting against giving the board power to discontinue for 1961 62. City Council approves water bond election ordinance

City Ordinance No. 227 calls for a special election to authorize a bond issue for expanding and improving the city water system. Council also discussed road work and approved oiling several blocks to reduce dust with a test program under the Street and Walks Committee.

The Paris First Ward Relief Society announces a canyon party on August 15 with a 5 canyon event. A pot luck lunch will be served and the Relief Society will furnish punch. Sisters of the ward are urged to attend at the church for a social gathering and relaxation.
