Gene Fullmer of West Jordan Utah will defend against Florentino Fernandez of Havana Cuba in a 15 round title bout at Ogden Stadium, sponsored by the Intermountain Boxing Club. The event includes a 10 round preliminary and tickets range from five to twenty dollars. Televised nationwide but local Bear Lake blackout.
Mrs. Georgia Findlay reports the theft of her daughter's purse from the ladies dressing room at Fish Haven resort after a Saturday dance. The tan and brown woven basket purse with rope handles contained a driver's license social security card and school papers. Evidence suggests items were found along the Mee between the Cattle Store and Chris Pugmire home and turned over to locals, but the purse and license remain missing.
On Sunday at 1 15 a.m. a 1956 Ford four door driven by Terry R Bunn 16 of Montpelier was badly damaged on a county road west of Ovid. Six other passengers were in the car and all were taken to the hospital with slight injuries. The car's speed was about 30 mph and damage totaled near 1000 dollars.

Casey Jones of Bloomington Canyon is jailed in Bear Lake County Paris on a complaint by state Creeks watermaster and Bloomington Village watermaster accusing him of larceny of waters and assault with a deadly weapon. Watermaster Howard Ward says Jones threatened him with a gun to stop water rights removal from the creek. Bond set at 1,000 cash or 5,000 property. Jones was at large as of Wednesday.
The Isaac T. Pride family reunion was held in Latetown Utah on Saturday July 8 1961 in the recreation hall under director Weasley L. Price. Sal and Vernice Price were honored with tributes and gifts a talk by Dr. Laurence Gee and musical numbers by Mr. and Mrs. Van Price’s daughters highlighted the event. A picnic lunch followed with swimming and sunbathing at the lake. Sixty two family members attended and a genealogy booklet was distributed.
The Frank Nye family gathered for their annual reunion at the DeWitt picnic area in Logan Canyon last Sunday. Attendees included multiple Nye couples and their children from Paria Evanston Magna Brigham City East Lake City Bloomington and Logan, with extended relatives from Wyoming Utah and Utah cities.
Mrs Alma Poulsen fell from a porch at her daughter Deloris Keotch’s home in St Charles and fractured her hip. She was taken to L D S hospital in Salt Lake City Sunday afternoon with Elves Poulsen and Alfred Keotch. Darryl and Alm Poulsen joined others later that day and returned Monday evening. Surgery occurred Monday afternoon and she was reported as progressing as expected.
A cable from Whitney Smith, Mission President of Vienna, Austria, reports that Larry Jaussi had emergency appendix surgery on Wednesday afternoon July 26. He was awake and feeling fine after the operation, with officials noting the emergency prevented requesting permission.
Mr and Mrs Floyd Holly and two children visited Bear River City residents the Gerald Christensens A My and Mrs Chris Cerison in the evening for Bonnie Sozsazon.
Eleven Idaho communities received FCC licenses to operate TV booster stations. Senator Frank Church announced that 13 more Idaho applications are being processed as part of about 1,000 nationwide. Licenses granted include Caribou County TV Association in Soda Springs, with others pending for Lava TV Association in Lava Hot Springs and Bear Lake Valley TV Association in Lake Town Utah.

Funeral services were held in Liberty for William K. Smith aged 73 former resident of Sharon and Blackfoot who died July 92 1961 in Rigby Idaho. He was born March 19 1888 and farmed in the community before moving to Pocatello then to Blackfoot. Survivors include four sisters one brother twenty one grandchildren and twenty three great grandchildren. He married Ethel Jensen on July 21 1949. Rites Wednesday July 26 at 3 p.m. in Liberty Ward with music and prayers. interment in Liberty Cemetery.

The Hymas family reunion will be held Saturday August 12 1962 at Lava Hot Springs Program at 10 20 am. A business meeting is scheduled for 11 30 am followed by lunch at noon. Attendees should bring their own lunch and enjoy swimming and recreation in the afternoon.
Mrs Claude Jensen and her three children Kristine Jackie and Jeffen of Parowan Utah have spent the past month visiting the Calvin Smedleys in Parowan and visited Mrs Jensen's sister Mrs Dwey Jensen and family in Fish Haven and TB Douglas Arnell and family in Murray Utah.
Mrs Arstaine Nye of Salt Lake City and sisters Mrs Elva Kendrick of Logan and Mrs Doretta Hoskin of Filer Idaho called at the Bill Nye home last week following a trip through Yellowstone National Park.
Last week Mrs. Douglas Layton of Pincher Creek and Mrs. Ted Hanman of Edmonton visited Mr and Mrs Walter Poulsen. Layton and Hanman are daughters of Charles Findlay, longtime Bear Lake resident, now in Canada.
