Championship Bout in OgdenHeadline match for middleweight crown

Gene Fullmer of West Jordan Utah will defend against Florentino Fernandez of Havana Cuba in a 15 round title bout at Ogden Stadium, sponsored by the Intermountain Boxing Club. The event includes a 10 round preliminary and tickets range from five to twenty dollars. Televised nationwide but local Bear Lake blackout.

Purses stolen at Fish Haven resort dance

Mrs. Georgia Findlay reports the theft of her daughter's purse from the ladies dressing room at Fish Haven resort after a Saturday dance. The tan and brown woven basket purse with rope handles contained a driver's license social security card and school papers. Evidence suggests items were found along the Mee between the Cattle Store and Chris Pugmire home and turned over to locals, but the purse and license remain missing.

Accident Sends Six to Hospital In Early Morning Crash

On Sunday at 1 15 a.m. a 1956 Ford four door driven by Terry R Bunn 16 of Montpelier was badly damaged on a county road west of Ovid. Six other passengers were in the car and all were taken to the hospital with slight injuries. The car's speed was about 30 mph and damage totaled near 1000 dollars.

Bloomington rancher Casey Jones charged over creek water theft

Casey Jones of Bloomington Canyon is jailed in Bear Lake County Paris on a complaint by state Creeks watermaster and Bloomington Village watermaster accusing him of larceny of waters and assault with a deadly weapon. Watermaster Howard Ward says Jones threatened him with a gun to stop water rights removal from the creek. Bond set at 1,000 cash or 5,000 property. Jones was at large as of Wednesday.

Isaac T. Prioy Family Reunion Held in Latetown Utah

The Isaac T. Pride family reunion was held in Latetown Utah on Saturday July 8 1961 in the recreation hall under director Weasley L. Price. Sal and Vernice Price were honored with tributes and gifts a talk by Dr. Laurence Gee and musical numbers by Mr. and Mrs. Van Price’s daughters highlighted the event. A picnic lunch followed with swimming and sunbathing at the lake. Sixty two family members attended and a genealogy booklet was distributed.

Mrs Poulsen Breaks Hip in Fall at Daughter's Home

Mrs Alma Poulsen fell from a porch at her daughter Deloris Keotch’s home in St Charles and fractured her hip. She was taken to L D S hospital in Salt Lake City Sunday afternoon with Elves Poulsen and Alfred Keotch. Darryl and Alm Poulsen joined others later that day and returned Monday evening. Surgery occurred Monday afternoon and she was reported as progressing as expected.

Rites Held for William K. Smith

Funeral services were held in Liberty for William K. Smith aged 73 former resident of Sharon and Blackfoot who died July 92 1961 in Rigby Idaho. He was born March 19 1888 and farmed in the community before moving to Pocatello then to Blackfoot. Survivors include four sisters one brother twenty one grandchildren and twenty three great grandchildren. He married Ethel Jensen on July 21 1949. Rites Wednesday July 26 at 3 p.m. in Liberty Ward with music and prayers. interment in Liberty Cemetery.
