Montpelier’s new outdoor drive in theatre opens Friday August 5 with a $50000 facility on 5 acres north of Highway 30 N. Donald G Welker manages the 300 car capacity site featuring individual speakers, arc ramps, 55 by 62 foot screen, neon lights, murals, and a public address system for announcements.
Local items report rides to rodeos in Soda Springs and visits from families and relatives across Idaho Utah and Montana. People mentioned include Earl Spencer of Moscow University of Idaho summer programs the Rich and Tueller reunions and numerous residents from Montpelier Paris Ideal Beach Rock Springs and Lakota with weekend gatherings and dinners noted.
Bp Taft P Budge presides with counselor Clifford G Price conducting. Prelude by Lois Athay and ward choir perform High on the Mountain Top and Prayer is the Boul's Sincere Desire. Two large family reunions were held at lake resorts over the past weekend. The Rich reunion gathered at Lakota Resort Saturday and Sunday, while the Tueller gathering lasted three days at Ideal Beach from Friday through Sunday.

Three large bulldozers operate on the mountain above the old mine site to locate the phosphate vein. After locating it, phosphate will be mined from an open pit and shafts will be sunk for excavation. A trench forty feet deep and about 100 yards long has been dug, while workers dismantle old buildings for new construction and repair processing machinery for operation.
Mrs. Edward G. Smith and Mrs. Merl Brown with Lionel and Barbara of Logan spent the early week with Louisa Athay. Dr. and Mrs. O Neal Rich and family from Salt Lake attended a Rich family reunion. Numerous relatives from Salt Lake Ogden Georgetown and Logan visited or stayed at farms and homes in Paris and Camp Lifton. A canyon party at Paris park honored Ana Bolton’s birthday with many local ladies attending.
Bloomington residents and visiting families attend the funeral of Mary Ann Christensen. Local people from Ogden Logan Paris Vernal Montpelier and Pocatello converged for services and to console the bereaved.
Paris Second Ward invites all current and former officers teachers and residents to a Centennial celebration at Lakota Resort on August 18 with a group luncheon at 1 pm. Each family brings food for their group followed by an entertaining program and sports events.
The William A. Gheen family reunion will be held Saturday August 6 at St. Charles. Descendants gather at the amusement hall at 11 a.m.
The B Square 4 H club of Paris met at leader Martha Hann s home to discuss plans for the County Fair and identify more trees for sprouts and swims. Cloverettes 4 H of Ovid sewed on a hot pad holder and served refreshments to five girls. Nine Little Cookers 4 H Club met at La Priel Athay s home with nine girls present.
Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Ann Jarvis Christensen 83 died Thursday in Provo after a stroke were held Monday at 2 p m in the Bloomington ward chapel. She was born January 2 1866 in Paris Idaho and lived in Bloomington where she was Relief Society president for 14 years and counselor 16 years. Survivors include seven daughters three sons three brothers five sisters and 66 grandchildren and 86 great grandchildren. Her husband Charles Otto Christensen died in 1936.

Sunday callers from Galt Lake City and Logan, Mr. Wayne Pugmire and family and Mrs Luetta Pugmire and Miss Oral Pugmire, visit Milford Lovelands. Alvirus Arnell smiles on first grandchild born July 27 at Lake Hospital, in care of Mr and Mrs Du Wayne Arnell.
Mrs Jack Harmon and children visited Mrs Agnes Toomer and others last week. Visitors included Mr Cy Orr of Canada. Evan Morgan of Liberty and Vera Bartschi of Sharon spoke Sunday. Several families hosted and visited over the weekend, with mutual guests and a trip for the Mutual girls to Lakota.
Sherman B Lowe of Paris former district governor was elected vice chairman on the Lions International Board of Governors at the New York City convention. He attended with wife and the Michaelson quartet of Montpelier, who also performed in a contest. Audry Clark of Blackfoot visited the Smith Gerlach home and left with Mrs. Wilks and Mrs. Bunn.
Mrs Ardeth Mecham and kin from Lyman Montana visit at Albert Arnell's home. Morgan Utah's Jon Pentz recovers enough to leave Montpelier Hospital for home. Professors Allred and Walker Roberts visit local families from Minnesota and Portland. Local residents and kin travel for visits, surgeries, and a funeral in Bloomington.
About twenty local women compete in a Montpelier event on August 10 with three finalists. The Queen will be chosen by public vote at the August 18 Queen Dance at the Fair Grounds. Awards total 145 dollars, with 75 for the Queen and 35 each for two attendants.
Mrs. M P Kelsey of Salt Lake visited Heber Price home while Mr and Mrs Arnold Smedley of San Francisco stayed with Ida Smedley. Warren Caldwell returned to Ogden after ten days with his mother Lena Caldwell. Blackfoot families camped at Baar Lake. Boise siblings aged 83 and 88 visited Bear Lakers sisters Findlay and Hymas. Mrs Sparka and Mrs Netbaur are former Bear Lakers. Mrs F L Ringle returned from Auburn Wyoming after visiting daughter Seth Moser and family, parents of a new baby. Mr and Mrs M H Collings hosted a chicken dinner for Walter Bird and Vinnie Price at Gus Rich resort. John Ballentyne flew to Salt Lake City with Beth West and Diane Rich. Mrs Milford Passey and children of Ogden visit Mary E Lewis. Mrs Myrtle Richards left for Salt Lake returning with Dr O Neal Rich family. Mrs Himma Clayton left for Ashton. Mrs Mabel Finch hosted Paris Bridge club in Soda Springs with Audrey Monson Inez Tunks Dorothy Tueller Orlean Innes Lucille Crawford Ethel Jensne Mona Shepherd Bertha Hoge Mabel Smith and Mauntie Zupon.
