County Recorder Sam V. Tunks urges homeowners to file releases when mortgages are paid to avoid title clouds. Releasing chattel mortgages costs 25 cents, real estate releases 20 cents per 100 words. discharged service members may have their discharge recorded free of charge.
Ten members from St. Charles Sunshine Club visited Mrs. Hugh Morgan in Liberty on Saturday July 28. Iola Bunderson and Louise Keetch drove the group to Cherry for games and social time led by Connie Allred Jennie Rasmussen. A humorous club-mem ber paper was read and a 6 30 lunch was served by Edna Morgan Iola Bunderson and Louise Keetch.
Mr. and Mrs William Stell announce the birth of a nine pound baby at Budge hospital Logan with Mrs Stell formerly Lucille Shepherd. Pfc Stell recently returned from European duty and will come home soon. Griffith Roberts of Beach Haven met his brother in law Sgt Arthur W Haviland discharged July 27 after nearly five years service including three years in the South Pacific. Haviland has three major battle stars and many theatre ribbons. Mrs Haviland formerly Jona Hoberts of Fish Haven.
The Sparks family held their annual reunion at Ogden Utah on July 24 at the home of D C Sparks. A 5 p.m. dinner preceded attendance at the Utah Pioneer Day rodeo with relatives including L A Pendrey of Logan Co N Sparks and family, Ben Kelsey, Fen ton Allred, Norma Price of Paris, Lyman Sparke of Long Beach California, and D C Sparks and daughters Dorothy and Donna of Ogden.
Pfc Gordon Bolton of Paris Idaho is processed at Camp Atlanta France en route to the Pacific with the 18th Armored Division in the Assembly Area. He served with the 13th Armored Division known as the Black Cat, which captured 20 000 German prisoners in the Ruhr and 19 000 in Bavaria. He holds the Good Conduct Medal Bronze Star and Combat Infantry Badge. Bolton is the son of Mr and Mrs Dave Bolton. He will receive a furlough before Division training for Pacific action. He arrived home Monday evening.
Mr and Mrs Frank Nye and son Roy returned home Friday from Evanston after visiting Ora Nye and Ernest Nye homes. Accompanying them were Lorraine and Larry children of Mr and Mrs Ernest Nye.
Mr and Mrs Lawrence Shepherd and other attendees from Soda Springs attended a chicken supper at the park Saturday night. The gathering celebrated Mrs Bunn's birthday anniversary with family friends in attendance.
Bishop and Mrs. Grimmett lead a list of invited couples including Mr. and Mrs. Hoge and Mr. and Mrs. Lauritzen. Attendees also include Walter Bird Leah Tunks Vinnie and Norma Price and others. A short program featured community singing jokes by Earl Bonham and a Bruce Stucki solo.
The Paris 2nd Ward Primary will present a program next Sunday at 8 o'clock. Includes opening gong and Bless the Children, a prayer by Pauline Cox, welcome by Lauriel Athay, a song The Message of His Love, a short playlet The Light of the World, and a cast of Children of the World and Children of the Church with many named participants. Also features Light Divine, Primary talk, graduation of Seagulls, song Our Work and Our Wealth, and prayers by Annie Boas.
Dow Williamson, formerly of Paris, Utah, serves as Leadingman Packer in the law boxmaking and bag units of Storehouse A-15 at the Naval Supply Depot in Clearfield. He oversees 67 workers, with a career spanning radio radar and central packing, and remains dedicated to civil service work in Utah.
The Doctrina and Covenants study group met at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Arlin Pugmire in St. Charles Sunday evening. Those present were Mr. and Mrs. Alma Burton, Mr. and Mrs. Grant Rich, Mr. and Mrs. James Olsen, Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Stuck, Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Price and the host and hostess.
A farewell supper was hosted at the Henry Sparks home Sunday evening honoring Lyman Sparks who departed Monday to join the armed forces at Ft. Douglas. Attendees included Mr. and Mrs. Fenton Allred, Kay and Verna, Mr. and Mrs. Correl Sparks, Montpelier, Mr. and Mrs. Ben Kelsey, Larry, Rose Ann, Norma Price, and the hosts.
A church column reflects on Nephi and his vision from the Lord as taught in Bear Lake Stake. It recounts Nephi asking in faith and the dangers of hard hearts, urging daily personal inquiry of the Lord. Ward conference lists speakers, prayers, and musical numbers from morning and afternoon sessions.
S/Sgt James Nutt son of Mrs Otto Bucher of Paris Idaho is discharged at Ft Douglas under the adjusted service rating plan. He wears four bronze stars for campaigns in China Burma and Java and is authorized to wear the Pre Pearl Harbor Asiatic Pacific Ribbon and Good Conduct Medal. Before enlisting in December 1940 he worked as a farmer for Dr Rich of Paris.
The American Red Cross will participate in the national Forest Fire Prevention program under the Disaster Relief Service. Junior Red Cross members will play a major role in prevention while communities near forests and ranges are urged to act. four simple rules to curb fires are outlined.
Mrs John Scheidegger departed Monday for Salt Lake City for a routine medical checkup. She was accompanied by Mrs David Butler, providing support during the trip.
The revived Bear Lake Rodeo returns to Montpelier on Friday and Saturday August 10 and 11 under Chamber of Commerce sponsorship. Marion McBride offers strong riding stock and prize money as cowboys compete in events plus drag racing calf roping bull dogging and wild cow milking. dances August 9 10 and 11 with an open air pavilion carnival rides and shows.
Sgt Grant Grandy son of Mr and Mrs Emil Grandy and Miss Barbara Curtis of Payson Utah were married at the Logan temple on Thursday July 26. Grandy has three years overseas service and recently returned to the United States. They spent several days at the military home and left for Payson for a reception that evening.
Word has been received of the birth of a baby boy weighing eight pounds four ounces born July 28 to Mr. and Mrs. Seth Moser at Auburn Wye. Mrs. Moser was formerly Miss Alice Eborn. The baby is welcomed by two sisters and one brother.
Dortha Hann won high score and Orlean Innes took the cut prize at the Friday Afternoon Bridge session hosted by Mrs. Clara Budge. Refreshments were served to Mesdames Bertha Hoge Inez Tunks Ethel Jensen Dorothy Tueller Dortha Hann Maybell Dennis Orlean Innes Mona Shepherd.
