Mrs Lena Laughter of Montpelier Dies at 81

Mrs Lena Egh Laughter, 81, longtime Montpelier resident, died Monday after months of illness. Born February 22, 1875 in Langnau, Switzerland, she married James Butler Laughter in Montpelier in 1894. Surviving children include James, Nicholas, Harold, Wesley, and others. 36 grandchildren and 37 great grandchildren. Funeral held Wednesday at 1 pm in Montpelier 4th Ward Chapel. burial in Montpelier cemetery.

Rich Motor wins bid for new 60 passenger school bus

At the April board meeting, Rich Motor of Montpelier won the contract for a 60 passenger bus at $5,958, GMC chassis with a Superior body. Other bids came from Hansen Cherolet Jensen Wood Montpelier Truck & Tractor Bear Lake Motor. The district plans yearly additions and replacements to meet transportation needs with Idaho state participation and a seven year depreciation window.

Annual Bull Grading Tour Dates Set

The Bear Lake Valley Cattle Associations announce the annual bull grading tour from April 30 to May 3 at 7 a.m. Bulls on the east side will be graded April 30 and May 1, west side May 2 and 3. Rangers J B Hann Montpelier and Robert Alison Paris join Jon Dahmen and Bob Kerns in the tour. Paul Fitzgerald will test west bulls for trichomoniasis on May 8 and 9. Over fifty bull owners have requested the disease check.

Former St. Charles Lady Dies at Logan

Elza Jenson Humpherys 80 died last Wednesday in Logan after a three month illness. Born October 25 1875 in St. Charles she taught at Fielding Academy Salt Lake City and Brigham City and later lived in Star Valley before moving to Logan. Surviving are her husband Ray and 26 grandchildren. Funeral and burial held in Logan Saturday.
