Prosecutors say a family run heroin trafficking ring used Apple Jacks boxes to ship about 25,000 packets monthly to Brooklyn and Staten Island dealers since 2014. Twenty four defendants face drug, money laundering and conspiracy charges in a 367 count indictment.
John J Grasso Sr 90 of Oswego died Sept 16 2015 at Seneca Hill Manor He was a WWII Army veteran POW in Germany who escaped on Easter 1945 He owned Grasso Excavating and was a communicant of St Joseph Church Survived by wife Concetta and six children two siblings sixteen grandchildren and eight great grandchildren Funeral from Sugar Scanlon Monday 930am to St Joseph Church Burial in St Peters Cemetery. Funeral services for David R. LaVere, who died September 13, 2015, were held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Nelson Funeral Home. The Rev. William King officiated. Words of remembrance were offered by his niece, Margaret Thorpe.
David R. Lavere was laid to rest in Riverside Cemetery with officiant Rev. King leading the service. Pallbearers included Nathan LaVere, Peter Murphy, Dustin Amos, Mike Scaringi, Eric Scoville, and Nick LaVere.
Oswego city police charged John H. Woods 53 of 89 Utica St with third degree robbery and second degree harassment on Wednesday. Aaron M. Palmer 38 of 108 E Schuyler St faced criminal mischief and second degree criminal trespass, plus second degree harassment on Wednesday. Charles C. Haws Jr. 36 of 238 E Second St faced second degree contempt on Wednesday. William J. Lehmann 37 homeless was arrested on a Cayuga County bench warrant on Wednesday. Kayce E. Maher 23 of 24 William Ave Islip faced unlawful possession of marijuana on Thursday. Hastings based troopers charged Kelli J. O’Brien 40 of Amboy with second degree menacing and criminal possession of a weapon, plus third degree aggravated unlicensed operation on Thursday.
William Peter Gunn 76 of Fulton died Sept 17 2015 at home surrounded by family. A Syracuse native he lived in Syracuse Oswego and Fulton and served in the Marine Corps 1957 1964. He owned Gunn Buick Oswego and worked for Laqua's Fulton. He enjoyed golf with two hole in ones and wood working. Survived by wife Carole four children and many relatives. Mass at St Marys Oswego with private burial. Donations to MS Upstate NY or American Cancer Society. Arrangements Sugar Funeral Home Fulton.
Dr Edward C Palmer 70 died September 8 2015 from injuries after a motorcycle crash near his Marble Falls Texas home He grew up in Fall River MA attended Dartmouth College and Cornell Medical School He served as a Navy physician and worked as an anesthesiologist at Bassett Memorial Hospital before retiring in 2005 A private memorial service is planned October 10 2015 at his Texas residence Arrangements by Cook Walden Davis Funeral Home Georgetown Texas The family thanks first responders DPS troopers and ICU staff at St David’s Round Rock Hospital for their care
