Oswego shines with LEED Gold Shineman Center for Science
SUNY Oswego's Richard S. Shineman Center for Science Engineering and Innovation, opened in 2013, earned LEED Gold from the U S Green Building Council. The 230 000 square foot facility replaced Snygg Hall, features geothermal wells, solar panels and wind turbine, storm basins, water and energy monitoring, and electric vehicle charging stations as part of the college's 800 million campus renewal toward carbon neutrality by 2050. The project, overseen by SUNY Construction Fund and Cannon Design, involved a $118 million budget and significant philanthropy including a $5 million gift from Barbara Palmer Shineman.
