Scriba approves 2017 budget with small tax increase
The Scriba Town Board unanimously approved the 2017 budget keeping expenses steady while raising the household tax rate per 1000 to 2.36 from 1.40 due to reduced revenue from the James A. FitzPatrick Nuclear Power Plant. The town plans a $250,000 draw from fund balance and a hiring freeze as part of balancing a total budget slightly above $6 million. Entergy payment in lieu of taxes helps offset costs and the town notes its historically low tax rate compared with Oswego County towns.
